Bayonetta creator Hideki Kamiya says Nintendo never asked to censor series, quite the opposite

Hot on the heels of learning Bayonetta 3 includes a new mode to make the game less sexually revealing, fans got concerned the threequel has been censored in other ways.

Series creator Hideki Kamiya sounded off regarding the potential for Nintendo requesting the game be censored – and struck down the notion entirely.

“When people talk about the exposure of Bayonetta, I see a lot of ‘it’s because it’s Nintendo,’ but through Bayo 1 (ported), Bayo 2, and Bayo 3, the only suggestion we got was with Link’s costume, that we could expose his chest more,” Kamiya said.

He added, “As for Bayonetta, I think you should just innocently enjoy it without worrying about things you don’t have to do with your bias head…”

Kamiya rounded out his thoughts with some reminiscing of the late-Nintendo President, Satoru Iwata, who was affectionately known sometimes as “Iwachi.”

“Speaking of Nintendo, as I told Iwachi, I thought they might be a big, square, and annoying company, but after working with them for a long time, I have the impression that, although they can be annoying at times, they are surprisingly open to face to face discussions regarding development and sales,” Kamiya said.

Bayonetta 3 is launching on October 28th for Nintendo Switch.
