Bayonetta actress denies pay claims, says she only asked for “a fair, living wage”

The pay dispute with Bayonetta 3 continues as original voice actress Hellena Taylor responded to PlatinumGames’ latest statement in support of new actress Jennifer Hale.

“It has come to my attention that some people are calling me a liar and golddigger. I feel the need to defend myself and my reputation in the industry,” Taylor said in a new series of statements.

Taylor then reiterated what was said in her original statements is the truth, that PlatinumGames’ first pay offer “was too low.”

“That offer was 10,000 dollars total,” she said. “Remember, this is 450 million dollar franchise, (not counting merchandise.) I then wrote in Japanese to Hideki Kamiya, asking for what I was worth.”

The original Bayonetta actress noted again how Kamiya actually replied, that he “valued my contribution to the game and how much the fans wanted me to voice the game. I was then offered an extra 5,000!”

This contradicts Taylor’s original statements, where she said the pay offer was a flat $4,000 “to do the whole game as a buyout, flat rate.” Now it seems the final $4,000 offer was to merely appear as a cameo, and as Taylor now says “voice some lines.”

Anonymous sources previously claimed that Taylor had been offered this newly-revealed $15,000 offer from the get-go, which Taylor says are “lies,” notably the that the “$4,000 for 5 sessions” claims are “total fabrications.”

Following Taylor’s rejection of their original offer to voice Bayonetta again, she claims to have “heard nothing from them for 11 months,” after which that final $4,000 fee was offered.

“There were not ‘extensive negotiations.’ I’ve also been informed of ridiculous fictions, such as I asked for 250,000 dollars,” Taylor said. “I am a team player. I was just asking for a fair, living wage in line with the value that I bring to this game.”

The previous sources noted the $15,000 offer was significantly higher than what she was paid for the first game, which Taylor seems to agree with – noting it was £3000 for the game, and a “little more” for the second.

Bayonetta 3 is set to launch on October 28th for Nintendo Switch.
