Arcadegeddon Announced and Enters Early Access for PlayStation 5

Arcadegeddon

Illfonic have announced co-op multiplayer shooter Arcadegeddon during the PlayStation State of Play.

The PlayStation Blog post reveals that after development on a game was halted in Christmas 2020 after a year’s worth of work; Illfonic would publish their next game themselves. Head of Creative & Design Jared Gerritzen worked out the concept for Arcadegeddon in the last two weeks of the year.

As the owner of a local arcade tries to save his business from mega-corporation Fun Fun Co., he connects the top arcade games together to make a “super game.” However, Fun Fun Co. puts a virus into the game; leaving the player and their friends to save the game and the final arcade in town.

Solo or with 4 players in co-op, players must fend off foes, explore biomes, play mini-games, and defeat bosses. You can even challenge your friends in co-op mid adventure for some PVP action and rewards. Complete challenges from the nine gangs to earn abilities, skins, and spots on the global leaderboard.

The game aims to be in Early Access for seven months, along with season updates and monthly patches. The game will feature original music by Aaron Rutherford, Jimmy Blythe (AFK), Mark Rutherford, Ray Volpe, Getter, UZ, Thook, Halogenix, Milano, South, Swrly, and Illfonic’s own CEO and Grammy winner Charles Brungardt.

Arcadegeddon enters Early Access today, and fully launches 2022 for PlayStation 5.
