Anodyne 2: Return to Dust Heads to Consoles February 18

Anodyne 2: Return to Dust

Analgesic Productions have announced Anodyne 2: Return to Dust will be coming to current and next-gen consoles, along with a release date.

As previously reported, the game is an experimental adventure game inspired by classic games like Zelda. This time around, Anodyne makes the shift to early low-poly 3D graphics, but still contains levels where you shift to a 16-bit 2D aesthetic.

The game is set on the island of New Theland, which is currently infected by a substance called Nano Dust that distorts the emotions and personalities of the native islanders. You play as Nova, a Nano Cleaner tasked with helping the people of New Theland by shrinking herself and cleaning up the Dust in their bodies.

Anodyne 2: Return to Dust is available on Windows PC, Mac, and Linux (all via GOG, and Steam), and February 18th on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. In case you missed it, you can find our review here (we recommend it!)

The game is available in English, Spanish (Spain), Portuguese (Brazil), Simplified & Traditional Chinese, Japanese, French and German.

You can find the console release date trailer below.

You can find the rundown (via Steam) below.

Do I need to play Anodyne 1?

Nope! Similar to the Final Fantasy franchise, there’s no need to play the original Anodyne to understand the story in Anodyne 2: Return to Dust, but longtime fans will find connections between the two! If you’d like to check out both, you may want to purchase the Franchise Bundle!
