Nintendo will soon patch out the excessive eggs appearing during the Bunny Day event in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
For those unfamiliar, the Bunny Day event in the game began on April 1st, and last until April 12th. The event results in a chance of resources being replaced by an egg of a corresponding type (a Stone Egg from a rock, a Water Egg when fishing, etc).
These eggs are then used to create Easter-themed decorations and clothes, with a special bonus coming on April 12th if all Easter objects have been created.
Aside from fixing a bug on April 3rd that prevented balloons from spawning, players are getting tired of how frequent the eggs are.
This can be seen in the comments to tweets made by Nintendo, and from the official Twitter account for the game [1, 2, 3], along with jokes and memes from users [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]. These are especially centered around fishing (where pulling the fish out of the water reveals it as a Water Egg), and how frequently balloons drift by.
The criticism did not go unnoticed, with the Japanese 1.1.4 patch notes, noting that “During the Easter event, the appearance rate of some eggs has been adjusted until April 11, 2020” (Translation: Google Translate). The next sentence would seem to indicate this will be reduction, rather than an increase.
The eggs will be “easier to collect on the day of Easter (April 12, 2020)” but for those frustrated at how frequent the eggs appear, they may have relief soon. Those wishing to take advantage of how high the egg rate is at this time should take advantage of 1.1.3 before it is patched.
At this time, the date of the patch coming to the west has not been announced, though we cannot image it will be too long.
In other news, Director of Community and Social Media Strategy at Raw Fury Kristi Anderson has produced a Google Spreadsheet to help players put their eggs to good use.
When downloaded, players can input how many of each egg type they have, and the sheet will calculate which items will make them the most profit when sold. It seems at least players can pay for some bridges, or pay off their loan at least.
