Nintendo has been aggressively pushing their mobile game output, like the recently announced Fire Emblem Heroes, Animal Crossing, and the increasingly popular Super Mario Run.
Two of those games are still in development, and Nintendo has made the decision to delay Animal Crossing for mobile in lieu of Fire Emblem Heroes.
Here’s the pertinent blurb, from their latest financial statement:
For smart devices, we plan to release the game application Fire Emblem Heroes on February 2. We will also follow last December’s release of Super Mario Run for iOS with an Android version in March. To accommodate the releases and operation of these applications, we have revised the release schedule for Animal Crossing, which we had originally planned to release during this period. This title will be released during the next fiscal year.
Nintendo will recognize the next fiscal year after April 1st, so we can expect the game to come anytime after then.
It’s worth mentioning Animal Crossing for mobile was announced prior to the Fire Emblem Heroes reveal, so it’s certainly interesting to see Nintendo prioritize a game that is expectedly not as far in development.
We’ll keep you guys posted.
