Advance Wars was always a series that I personally was very fond of. It fused excellent strategy with a fun story filled with unique characters. As a point of comparison, the same developer, Intelligent Systems, made the recent Fire Emblem: Awakening on the 3DS, which is an amazing game in its own right.
Unfortunately, the Advance Wars series has since vanished from consciousness. The 2008 and last title, Days of Ruin, wasn’t even released in Japan, having been canceled after many delays—but that is about to change.
Over five years later, the game will release via Club Nintendo as a Platinum Reward, which is better than nothing for Japanese fans who never got this game.
This marks the first Nintendo DS game to be released on the 3DS eShop as a digital download. The game will require 426 blocks of space.
