Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi has revealed the second part of JRPG Fantasian is almost complete.
As previously reported, the game takes place across multiple pocket dimensions; represented by over 150 real life dioramas as locations, created by Japanese Tokusatsu special effects artists. After Leo is left with almost no memory from an explosion at a magic-tech factory, he only remembers a young woman.
Soon Leo finds this very woman in a strange land, and is caught up in humanity being overrun by machines. As players encounter foes, they can send them into another dimension to fight later; challenging multiple at once so AOE attacks strike multiple foes. While this presents a greater challenge later, it also streamlines combat and allows players to keep exploring.
Sakaguchi has tweeted that the game’s second part is; elborating more on his comments speaking to Famitsu (translation: DeepL, adjusted). Therein, Sakaguchi reveals the second volume will be twice the size of the first, and promises unique and challenging bosses.
“The second part of ‘FANTASIAN’ is almost finished! The volume exceeded our expectations, and it’s almost twice as big as the first part! The boss monsters are unique and challenging!
I would like to thank the entire development staff, the diorama craftsmen, and all of the development staff, Uematsu-san and […] the sound staff … They gave it their all. I think it’s a great work!”
We will keep you informed as we learn more. In earlier news, Apple have announced the game’s soundtrack, composed by Nobuo Uematsu, is now available.
