Indie developer Christophe Gallati has announced Save me Mr. Tako returns as Save me Mr. Tako: Definitive Edition for PC and Switch.
The newly enhanced and expanded version of the throwback Game Boy-style platformer Save me Mr. Tako returns to Windows PC (via Steam) and Switch (via the eShop). Limited Run Games also confirmed they will offer a physical edition for Save me Mr. Tako: Definitive Edition “on consoles”, with further details coming later.
The original Save me Mr. Tako: Tasukete Tako-San was launched back in 2018 and was later removed from digital storefronts in 2020 when developer Christophe Galati and publisher Nicalis ended their partnership. Unfortunately, owners of the original game will have to purchase the Definitive Edition to get the new content.
“Because the game was delisted and is now under a new publisher, we are unable to patch the existing game and instead need to deliver it as a new title,” Galati said. “Unfortunately this means anyone who previously purchased the original game will still have to purchase this new version to enjoy all the new content.
He added, “I contacted both Valve and Nintendo to see if I could do a special discount for players with the original version in their library but unfortunately it’s impossible. I wish things would have gone differently, but otherwise the game would have stayed stuck in its original and flawed form.”
