Despite ongoing COVID-19 concerns nearly a year after the outbreak began in China, most countries – including America – still have some kinds of restrictions on our day-to-day lives, to help mitigate the spread of the pandemic. Many events have been cancelled this year, but it seems like LA Comic-Con is still happening, somehow.

The annual comics and cosplay expo is reportedly on track for December 11th through the 13th, following the originally planned dates in September.

Tickets are already on-sale on the official website, with multi-day and VIP packages available as well. Convention organizers are saying they’ll implement safety procedures that adhere to already implemented COVID-19 guidelines.

“Over the past six months, we’ve been struggling with a very important question: “Should we even ATTEMPT to have L.A. Comic Con in 2020?” Chris DeMoulin, general manager of the con, said to the Los Angeles Daily News.

“Since March, we’ve been living in some version of a ‘Lockdown/Safer at Home’ world, trying hard to stay safe, hoping and praying for the health and safety of ourselves, our family, friends, neighbors and all of our fellow human beings,” DeMoulin said. “We’re wearing masks, keeping socially distant, and remaining thankful for frontline workers, hospital personnel and everyone working hard to make a difference.”

He added, “And yet, we all yearn for just a little bit of normality, to reclaim some aspects of our lives pre-COVID.” It’s worth noting LA Comic Con typically brings in tens of thousands of attendees, with the hope of hitting at least 50,000 people over the three days it takes place.
