Nintendo have announced an Indie World Showcase for tomorrow, August 18th.

The presentation promises to show 20 minutes of information regarding indie games coming to the Nintendo Switch. The prior Indie World Showcase was in March of this year, with a Mini Direct in July.

After E3 2020 was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, numerous companies took to making their own “Direct” style livestream press conferences. Nintendo however- the company that arguably kickstarted the trend- has yet to make a singular grand show for their major releases.

Instead, major announcements have come via press releases and trailers. Nintendo have used smaller Directs focused on individual series. In late April it was rumored that Nintendo had cancelled an unannounced Nintendo Direct scheduled for June, due to complications caused by the coronavirus pandmemic.

In fact, there has been no “true” longer Nintendo Direct since September 2019. This is undoubtedly due to the coronavirus pandemic and quarantine orders causing production issues across the whole world. Nonetheless, Nintendo have continued to host smaller direct-style presentations focused on major franchises, games, and indies.

The Nintendo Indie World Showcase premieres August 18th at 9 a.m. PT.
