CD Projekt have announced an upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 announcement has been postponed, due to the aftermath of the death of George Floyd.
The “Night City Wire” announcement was originally scheduled to take place on June 11th, however this has now been postponed to June 25th. The announcement came via the official Twitter account for the game.
“We decided to move Night City Wire to Jun 25th. We still look forward to sharing new information about CP’77, but more important discussions are happening right now and we want them to be heard. We wholeheartedly stand against racism, intolerance and violence. Black Lives Matter.”
The statement comes amid the protests and subsequent riots across the US over the death of George Floyd. This has also resulted in delays and postponements by PlayStation, EA Sports, Activision, and IGN.
Other video game companies have also took part in Blackout Tuesday (changing their profile pictures to a solid black image, along with only posting a solid black image on social media that day), and have offered donations or organized fund-raisers.
Many other US companies and organizations have offered their support of Black Lives Matter at this time. As such, it is entirely possible the other presentations and showcases currently set for June could be cancelled.
Cyberpunk 2077 launches September 17th for Windows PC (via GOG, and Steam), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. In case you missed it, you can find our thorough hands-on preview for Cyberpunk 2077 from E3 2019, here.
