Atlus have released another Morgana’s “travel report”, and revealed more about the newest Phantom Thief Zenkichi Hasegawa, code named Wolf.
The report (along with the official Japanese website), first details Kyoto and Osaka. In the historical Kyoto, the gang find Zenkichi’s home, along with his daughter Akane Hasegawa (voiced by Naomi Ohzora). It seems his daughter is a huge fan of the Phantom Thieves, ironic given that he was sent to investigate them due to the new meta-verse incidents.
While in the Kyoto Jail (complete with torii gates that teleport you around as you pass through them), Zenkichi awakens to his abilities as a Phantom Thief.
Before that however, the video discusses Osaka. A friendly city that foodies will love, the area gave birth to the word “kuidaore” (literally “to ruin oneself by extravagance in food“). It is also home to the headquarters for Madicce- the IT group investigating the meta-verse creeping into the real world.
The group is headed by Akira Konoe (voiced by Toru Okawa), who seems to be yet another person who is winning people over with his charisma and charm. However nothing indicates this is a recent phenomenon, unlike other characters. The Osaka Jail likewise resembles a futuristic city, with high-tech security to boot.
Finally, the report details Zenkichi’s abilities as a Phantom Thief, given the code name Wolf. Armed with a long sword and twin pistols, his Persona is Valjean. Much like other main-character Personas, it is named after a famous fictional “rebel,” in this case Jean Valjean of Les Misérables.
Jean Valjean was arrested for theft, trying to feed the children of his sister. Later he became a respected member of society and gave back to the community, despite his reputation as a former convict. All while police inspector Javert continues to pursue him, waiting for when he commits a crime again. He also takes part in the 1832 June Rebellion in Paris.
The Persona Valjean is of the Almighty element (essentially no element), and grants Zenkichi the ability to spend some health to increase his attack power, and to absorb health from foes. Valjean is also adept at gun skills, and can increase the strength of allies.
In case you missed it, you can find the third report here. We also covered the character trailers for Joker, Sophie, Ryuji, Morgana, Ann, Yusuke, Haru, and Makoto.
Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers is launching February 20th for Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4 in Japan.
