Sony has announced total worldwide shipments for PlayStation 4 have topped 96.8 million units.

The new milestone was reached in the three months that ended on March 31st of this year – via their latest financial results. A total of 2.6 million PlayStation 4 consoles were shipped during the quarter, a number up 0.1 million from the same time in the previous fiscal year.

In total, Sony shipped 17.8 million PlayStation 4 consoles in the 2018 fiscal year, a number down 1.2 million from the previous fiscal year. Sony is forecasting to sell 16 million PS4 consoles in the 2019 fiscal year, which runs from April 1st, 2019 through March 31st, 2020.
