Vanillaware’s Gorgeous Mecha Game 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim Heads West

Atlus has announced a western release for Vanillaware’s gorgeous, hand-crafted mecha game, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim.

A release window nor release platforms weren’t confirmed for the game’s western launch. For now, enjoy a new trailer here.

Here’s some artwork for the game:

Here’s a rundown on the game, via Atlus:

Life as you know it is ending because 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim will be localized and released in the West by ATLUS. The upcoming title is being developed by Vanillaware and directed by George Kamitani (Dragon’s Crown and Odin Sphere). A departure from the studio’s traditional fantasy style, the game takes place in a modern setting punctuated with giant mechs. Although the world may be bleak, Vanillaware’s signature artistic shine and gorgeous aesthetics will bring the characters and story of 13 Sentinels to life.

While release platforms weren’t confirmed at the time of publishing, when asked Atlus told Niche Gamer they were currently TBA.

We’ll keep you guys posted.

Vanillaware was reportedly looking into putting their games on PC a while back, here’s hoping that comes to fruition.

Does that mean you bought the Odin Sphere remaster for PS4 and PS3?

I wonder if they’ll finally abandon the Vita like Falcom and many others have. I’d hope not but wouldn’t be surprised.

For PS4 and Vita. Later I got a PS3 copy as well.

I get grabbing it for PS4 & Vita, but why even bother with the PS3 version at that point?

Wouldn’t surprise me if Japanese developers moved over to the Switch for games like these, especially considering how well its selling. I’ve got more than a few complaints about that system, but it’d be a worthwhile shift for not having to use proprietary storage cards alone.

I hope this is good. I loved Odin Sphere and Dragon’s Crown.

What is a “hand-crafted mecha game”? RPG? Action? Platformer?

Vita’s proprietary price gouging storage is so horrible, the handheld isn’t even worth hacking

It’s secretly a Gundam Build Fighters game.

That’s what I’d like to see, but the current silence doesn’t seem to add with that.

I’m assuming they have a Switch version to reveal, but Nintendo doesn’t want people knowing about it yet because of… reasons. They’ve been wanting other companies to stay quiet until E3 at least.

I almost never buy games on release, but anything Vanillaware on the PC might just be the exception. They don’t make games, they make true works of art.

I wish they would bring Princess Crown to the PC as well…

Why does everyone worry that games are dead if the devs are quiet for a year or so?

I was the one who leaked the info that Vanillaware was CONSIDERING PC options for their titles. Vanillaware is a very small studio and there’s no way of knowing if they’ll ever have the manpower to do PC versions at the same time until they announce one, unfortunately D:

Yes, his private FB page that other people can’t see. Who do you think gave NicheGamer the information? Brandon can personally confirm that I was the one who gave him the info and screenshots, so don’t get mad.
