Rockstar Games Post Mysterious Tease for Red Dead Redemption Sequel

cu5abbhw8aakgux

Rockstar Entertainment just posted a mysterious pic on their official Twitter account. The red background and the Rockstar Games logo drawn like a brand iron burn is speculated by fans to be a teaser to a new Red Dead Redemption title.

The sequel for the 2010’s western action game (itself being a sequel to Red Dead Revolver), has been speculated for a while, with the tentative title “Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West” being claimed to be the name of that game by anonymous tipsters.

We will update as soon as more information is known.

One would hope that they aren’t about to drop Red Dead Mobile-I think there would be riots.

I would hope not-but they may port it to PC which would keep them happy, so there’s a high chance that’s exactly what it is.

I doubt they would announce a pc port like this. This has to be something a lot bigger than a mere port.

I guess we’ll just have to wait 2 months to know if its a remaster or a Next Gen port.
Its likely a new game though considering Rockstar doesnt do remasters.

Real niche game you got there, writers.

Anyway, I hope the novelty of a ‘GTA set in the WEST!’ wears off soon. I strongly disliked people pushing RDR as GOTY material because Marston died at the end. The game itself plays like hot garbage, and rips off too many plot points from famous westerns.

RDR is right up with there with TLOU and Undertale for being games that didn’t deserve the hype. I’m really anxious to see Breath of the Wild set the new standard for open world games, making the GTA tactic of just having empty wastelands that cops can chase you in look rather primitive.

Eh yeah… I was talking about the general tone of the game. How you can’t go five in game miles without running into someone being either robbed, hanged or attacked by cannibals.
And don’t even get me started on the npcs you can interact with, I thought GTA IV had really deplorable npcs, but RDR took them to levels I haven’t even seen before.

You do realize being alone in the wilderness is basically the main point of Breath of the Wild don’t you? It won’t be any less of a wasteland if that’s what you think an open-world game is.

You also missed the point if its “ripping off” plot points from westerns. Being a homage/parody is pretty much the point.

BotW really already looks like a wasteland. Go look at their “forests” and the lack of any sort of foliage or canopy in them. What we’ve seen of the game consists of grass fields with trees in random spots and not much more.

That’s probably because they aren’t supposed to be dense, what we’ve seen is more grassy woodland than forest. Make things too dense and horseback riding will be a pain in the ass.

They seem to be going for a setup similar to the first Zelda. Most of the real action will probably take place in caves or dungeons. That would make the outside the “empty wasteland” with nothing to do Travis seems to think every other open-world game is.

Y’know, I have to ask as this is a niggling topic that’s been bugging me: Why do you care?

Specifically: Why does NICHEgamer care about Triple-A production teasers? Nothing against them and obviously this has SOME kind of following (I’d argue series like these are more autopilot following than conscious efforts to be excited). But, aside of your sponsors holding you all by the short & curlies, I cannot for the life of me understand how mainstream gaming news takes up the percentage of the site as it does. Why is that? RDR isn’t exactly smalltime, however, even if it may not be (to my memory) a console pusher such as Uncharted or CoD would be. It could also be allowed that you’ll see big news passing through these parts on occasion. But the obvious teaser like this counting as worthy of a blip is kind of odd to what I see as the purpose of the site, which is to inform, update, and venture in-depth to the more non-mainstream and generally low-audience titles that exists outside of Triple-A markets. 3A work here gets good coverage, usually I feel in a “gotta-get-there-first” style of reporting if there’s nothing juicy to nibble on (Dues Ex serves as a sample, having had quick articles and more in-depth stuff resulting from controversy). I was curious on if this was the intent, or if I’m off the mark and there’s another perspective I should be considering.

I promise not further than some gameplay vids. I seriously cannot cope with open world spots and get bored with them in lighting streaks. Still have yet to finish Assassin’s Creed (which isn’t even that open world)—prefer the PSP title to the main games, honestly. Concise, precise, and just fun enough.
