Torment: Tides of Numenera Delayed Again Into Q1 2017

inXile Entertainment has confirmed that Torment: Tides of Numener is being delayed again.

The isometric, Kickstarter-funded Planescape: Torment spiritual successor RPG won’t make it this year, instead the developer is looking to ship it sometime in the first quarter of next year.

InXile detailed the reasoning behind the delay in a Kickstarter update:

“Those of you who have been following our updates know we have been hinting towards a late 2016 release, and we could crunch and rush to get the game out around November. But doing so would mean both sacrificing the quality of our localization and would lead to a less polished game for the nearly 100,000 people total who have backed the game. Therefore, in the interests of giving everyone the best experience, we will be releasing Torment in early Q1 2017.”

This is the second time the game has been delayed, following its slipping into 2016, alongside the game’s project director parting ways with the studio as well. They always say a delayed game can eventually be a good game – right?

To make up for the delay, inXile is opening up beta access to all backers of the game who pledged for a tier that includes the final game.
