Former Blizzard-Dev Dream Team Building 8-Player Diablo-Inspired “Kings And Heroes”

What isn’t Diablo-inspired in today’s market, I hear you say. While true, it helps if some of your staff comes directly from Blizzard, which happens to be the case with developer Industry Games.

Containing cast-offs from Blizzard, Valve, and Turbine (among others), Industry Games feels they have a good idea about what core gamers want and are ready to test that theory with their newly announced game, Kings and Heroes.

Billed as a “first person Diablo“, this new action RPG boasts 8-player online play and procedurally generated dungeons, all with the promise of cutting-edge graphics to make those shiny loot piles look great when you inspect them up close.

Featured above, you can view the game’s debut trailer. Here are the game’s first screenshots:

There isn’t much more to go on, other than the game will release for Xbox One, PS4, and PC sometime in the far-flung future. One interesting tidbit of information though is that Industry Games expects Kings and Heroes to debut on Steam Early Access within the coming weeks. We’ll be sure to update you when that happens.

Here’s the full breakdown of the game, via Industry Games:

Exciting First Person Action Fantasy RPG

Explore a rich fantasy world and conquer challenging dungeons by yourself or with up to 7 other people.

Create your character

Create up to 6 individual characters per account. Choose from 6 different races including Orc, Goblin, Human, Dwarf, Elf, or Halfling. You can then select your class with each having a very distinct play-style either in group or solo. There are currently 5 classes: Champion, Ranger, Cleric, Wizard, and Rogue. Finally, customize your character with a variety of choices to make them your own.

The Amazing Town of Everdale

Begin in the beautiful adventurer town of Everdale. Everything you need to train and gear up can be found in Everdale. Talk to interesting characters, form groups with other players, explore the various districts of this quaint town. When you’re ready you can also find plenty of dungeons to explore by talking to one of the many adventure masters at the town inn.

Explore a Large, Rich World

With hundreds of players in each world you’ll have plenty of company to explore by foot or on horseback. Discover towns, villages, ruins, ghost towns, high mountains, lakes, and valleys across varied environments. You’ll travel in realistic day and night cycles with true weather effects. Be warned, many dangerous creatures inhabit the world so an adventurer must always be prepared for a fight.

Procedurally Generated Dungeons of varying size and difficulty

  • Four different dungeon types with many different themes including castles, crypts and caves.
  • Pick your size and difficulty (of course the harder the dungeon is, the better the rewards)
  • Amazing creatures including 20+ bosses
  • Can be played single player
  • Co-op play – Groups of up to 8 players with one being the “Group Leader” (Recommended)
  • Traditional Dungeon Crawl Experience – Unique classes with unique roles
  • “Roguelike” true dungeon running risk – wipe and the run is over…you’ll have to regroup in town to begin another adventure.

Large Variety of Items including Weapons and Armors

There is a large variety of armors and weapons, all of which can be dyed a wide range of colors. Enemies drop what they have equipped. So if you like that fiery sword or awesome helmet a minion is wearing go over and take it from him…if you can.

Crafting with numerous trade skills

Salvage, scavenge, harvest and mine in order to have the raw materials to craft items in the following disciplines:

  • Armorsmith
  • Weaponsmith
  • Tailoring
  • Alchemy
  • Leatherworking
  • Enchanting

Some of the best items in the game will be player made!

Multiplayer RPG

Play in an amazing world with hundreds of other players. Create groups of up to 8 players to explore and run dungeons. You can use standard text chat or built in voice chat to communicate with your group or those in the world.

Beautiful Environments

The realistic graphics of the characters and environment are rendered in a unique style that we like to call “fantastic-realism” through use of the Unreal 4 engine. We take full advantage of advanced DirectX11 rendering techniques in order to make your stay in Everdale a pleasant one.

Become a Legendary Hero

Advance through the ranks starting at Level 1 and go all the way to level 50 to make your character a force to be reckoned with. Along the way you can learn many different abilities unique to your class. Gain experience by completing complex quests or vanquishing evil creatures. Your exploits will be automatically recorded on an in-game character journal as you become more renowned for your combat prowess.

Fight the Ultimate Bosses

Come face to face with the most terrifying bosses as you attempt to raid their domain. Becoming a Hero sounds good until you take your first step into a dark evil infested dungeon. Encountering your first boss will let you know if it was a career choice you are well suited for. Each boss has its own unique AI and strategies to overcome but for those able to defeat them, priceless relics and ancient treasures await.

Sounds like this could shape up to be a solid title IF they can delivery on the most of the content.

    This is too much man.
You’re telling me it’s like diablo, but first person and it’s got online for 8 players in procedurally generated dungeons, with crafting, character creation and a big overworld?

That sounds way too good to be real but I can’t seem to wake up!

Remember Hellgate:London and how it tried to be exactly that and failed.

That’s kinda my fear about this game as well. Since that game was also made by former Diablo developers. Including the original creator. Hopefully in this game they shall get it right. Think maybe this not being an MMO will maybe avoid some of Hellgat London’s pit falls.

I wonder how well it will play in first person. But I think we will see soon enough.
