New GeForce Drivers Causing Reboots, BSoDs

Those who were waiting for Nvidia to release their new GeForce drivers, which were specifically made for Tom Clancy’s: The Division, may want to hold off…since reports are coming in that the newly released 364.47 drivers are causing serious problems for those who’ve downloaded them.

A post on the official forums has all the details, which claim the driver is responsible for reboot cycling, blue screens, and random crashes during both gaming and idle desktop use.

Without editorializing too much, I can say that Nvidia drivers have been far less reliable for me lately than AMD GPU drivers, with a recent problem involving Hyperdimension Neptunia cropping up when updating. A rollback to drivers that were released back last summer was required, and no new driver released by Nvidia since then has gone without adding that one glitch to Neptunia. As a result, I’ve been running out-of-date drivers to continue my adventures with Nep-Nep.

The 364.47 drivers have just now been pulled and the newest beta drivers are now the 364.51 package. What’s particularly bad about this is that users of the GeForce experience have their drivers automatically installed when new ones are made available – something they may want to reconsider letting happen after this most recent update.
