Beamdog is Working on a Totally New Baldur’s Gate Title

Beamdog has been up to something entirely new, alongside their HD re-releases of the Baldur’s Gate titles on Steam.

Their nebulous “Adventure Y” title has been confirmed to be a completely new game within the Baldur’s Gate series. It’s not a sequel, but it will go down in between the time of both the original Baldur’s Gate, and Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amn.

“This year, the eagerly anticipated Adventure Y will finally navigate the dark underground caverns of development and venture out into the Sword Coast,” the studio wrote on their official blog. “We’ve mentioned before that Adventure Y will be an addition to the Baldur’s Gate line using the Infinity engine, bridging the gap between Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition and Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition.”

Unfortunately for us fans, the official reveal with the title, platform (probably PC), release date, and so on – isn’t coming until late spring. However, Beamdog mentions that it will be “something bigger than we’ve ever done before.”

Finally, if you’re hoping for a Baldur’s Gate 3, keep wishing. “We’d be lying if we said we never think about doing a Baldur’s Gate III game, so we won’t say that,” the studio wrote. “But we will say there’s nothing in the works yet regarding BGIII or a 5th edition game.”

We’ll keep you guys posted.
