We’ve finally gotten a look at developer Acquire’s newly revealed PS Vita strategy game, Metropolis Defenders, via a new preview on Famitsu.
The game features a single city that you’re tasked with defending against the monstrous invaders. You won’t be simply building units or something, as Acquire has put a literal spin on the experience.
You can actually spin the entire city to orient towards whichever area is in the most dire of straits, as well as put various heroes to the task of defending the city.
In between phases, you can build up your city and your heroes, otherwise you won’t be able to simply defend the city out of sheer number of defenders.
You’ll have a bunch of special abilities and tools at your disposal as the commander of the city. A special resource known as “Altanite” is in low supply with the humans, and your goal is to protect that remaining supply.
I’m very curious as to just how customizable and upgradeable the city itself really is. Judging from the screenshots, it really does seem like you can build your city up into a militaristic powerhouse.
Here are the first two heroes to be confirmed:
Lovelock
- Age: 24 years old
- Rank: Overseer of the guns
- Voiced by: Toshiyuki Toyonaga
Lovelock is described as pretty hot-blooded individual, although he is still pretty smart when it comes to artillery firepower. He is also a big fan of gadgets, which is probably what makes him useful in the defense of the city.
Touwa
- Age: In her twenties (they literally don’t specify her exact age)
- Rank: Deputy commander
- Voiced by: M · A · O
Touwa is the deputy commander of the forces that are defending the city and its precious Altanite. She’s not only smart with tactics, but she’s also known for her beauty. A big fan of sweets and reading, she’s mostly relaxing in comfortable environments when not defending against giant monsters.
A release date was not confirmed.
