Dark Souls Steamworks Migration Delayed

Like rats fleeing a sinking ship, several large games (Resident Evil, Bioshock, Street Fighter) have already jumped off the Games for Windows Live service and transferred their online components to Valve’s Steamworks. One of the biggest of these migrating titles is Dark Souls, a game that desperately needs a stable online platform that won’t disappear at any moment. Dark Souls was expected to make the jump from GFWL to Steam sometime this month but it seems, according to a forum post, that the wait will be a little bit longer.

Attention Dark Souls fans!

– UPDATE 11/25/14 –
We are working hard to finalize the process to move your Dark Souls: Prepare to Die saves and achievements to Steam. We need to conduct additional testing and we are now targeting December to begin this process. We’ll have more information in the coming weeks. Thank you very much for your patience!

When Dark Souls makes the leap to Steamworks, fans won’t have to constantly worry about GFWL pulling support once Microsoft finally shutters the service. Though MS swears they won’t be doing so, they haven’t demonstrated that they are committed to the platform, either.
