A Demo for Octopus City Blues is Finally Available

It feels like forever ago that I first saw the fascinating and yet disgustingly tentacle filled Octopus City Blues. The game’s indie developer, Ghost in a Bottle, successfully got the game funded on Kickstarter, and now they’ve put out its public demo.

Featured above, you can view a teaser trailer for the game, but just watching it won’t really quite explain what is going on before your eyeballs. The game is set in an underwater megacity dubbed Octopus City.

The version of earth in Octopus City Blues is undergoing an unusual ice age, forcing whatever remains of humanity to go underneath the ocean, which can provide some lasting warmth. The megalithic city was constructed around a giant octopus, and despite its haphazard construction, is being used for a consistent place for an already cramped remainder of humanity.

In the game you’ll play as Kaf Kafkaryan, a cowardly middle aged man who is hopelessly addicted to Octoblood, a substance that is excreted from the giant octopus itself. Drinking Octoblood gives the user insanely twisted dreams and hallucinations, and his day-job of trimming the overgrowing tentacles is probably not helping his addiction.

I also did an interview with their eccentric and yet crazy talented CEO, Firas Assaad, which you can read here.

Finally, you can find the demos for Octopus City Blues on PC, Mac, and Linux here.
