Polish developer People Can Fly (Bulletstorm, co-developer on Gears of War) have announced they’re working on a new AAA shooter under publisher Square Enix.
The developer has also opened two additional studios in Poland to assist with development on the new title.
The first studio is located in Rzeszów, staffed with roughly 30 developers from CI Games and Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 while the other is located in Newcastle, UK – their first team located outside Poland. The UK team is made up of former Ubisoft staff, with People Can Fly looking to hire an additional 20-30 people in the next 12-18 months.
Between the three studios, over 150 developers are working on the new IP, which they’re describing as a “triple-A shooter developed alongside Square Enix.”
People Can Fly CEO Sebastian Wojciechowski also talked up the announcement saying, “Since People Can Fly became an independent studio again, our ambition has been to build a team of talented and experienced developers that can develop the best triple-A games… our intention is to give both new studios, in Newcastle and in Rzeszów, the opportunity to work on features or part of the game independently from the Warsaw team.”
It’s very possible we’ll get a look at the studios new IP at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, which runs from June 12th to the 14th. We’ll keep you guys posted.
