Currently interning at Niche Gamer. I've been playing video games since I was three years old.

  • Post Konami Kojima

    2017?

  • Anon_Amous

Guess I’ll get it on Steam. REALLY would have loved to get it on Switch though. Figured they do a character specific version thing again.

  • Captain Vidya

    No Talim, no buy.

  • CDan

    Delicious Yuki Tamura~

  • 13penguins

The only fighting game that I can really enjoy.

  • Sir Sog Muffin

oddly enough I hope the Chronicle of Sword mode from SCIII comes back. Such an underdeveloped but amazing mode. Unfortunately I’m almost positive im in the significant minority. Also I really hope they dont pull a SCV and give us bootleg versions of all the characters.

  • David Curry

Ivy boobs in glorious UE4 fidelity

  • CrimsonColossus
  • CrimsonX4

You know studying the trailer some more I like what I see. It looks fast paced and it seems to have specials like SCV and SE did. I wonder if it’s a soft reboot, I mean the designs are from SE and the series is confirmed to have multiverses.

Though I’m a bit sad that it seems they aren’t going to follow through with the trilogy SCV was supposed to be.

  • CrimsonX4

2018… ah damn hope it’s not rushed like SCV was :,(

  • NukeA6

I hope we get a legendary SoulCalibur again. We haven’t had one since 2. I missed when the series used to rival Tekken.

  • AnarKreig

I’m glad it’s coming to PC, Soul Calibur has always been one of my fave fightan.

  • Matz

    FUCKING FINALLY!!!!
I love Soul Calibur, I hope we can still make custom characters like always and let’s see if there’s guest fighters like usual, 2B could be great for the PS4 version and maybe Link or a FE guy could be a great guests for a possible Switch version

  • TheOnceAndFutureKing

Yes! The legend will never die!

  • David Curry

Daishi’s Twitter posts during SCV’s development was so depressing, he talked like we were lucky Namco even greenlit another SC game.

  • A Loli que não jantou

kinda surprised that it’s not on the Switch (you figure this would be the perfect oportunity to have Link playable in the series again, specially with BotW winning game of the year). I wonder who’s gonna be the guest characters this time. (If I could pick, I’d say 2B or William from Nioh)

  • Hope there will be more attractive females in this one. The Soul Calibur series has produced some excellent period/past-era sexy female characters.

Let’s hope Harada will ignore and dismiss all the crybaby whining that will surely come when more female characters are revealed.

  • JohnnyCageFan2

The “There is more than one truth” line made me think that too, kind of like Mortal Kombat 9.

  • 2501

They better not make the same mistakes in SCV. Having GI be allocated to meter was atrocious.

  • 2501

Yeah, they need to stop making the series resemble Tekken. Like get rid of them stupid juggle combos and keep it nice & simple. What made SC good is the GI system and it’s free movement.

  • Matthew Hartley

2B would be awesome, and a nice parallel with FFXV’s Noctis being playable in Tekken 7 soon.

  • True Goddess Reincarnation

    Tits and swords the series.

  • RPG

    FINALLY! I AM SO HAPPY.

  • I was right as usual. UE4 continue to bring Japaneses games to PC.

  • buddyluv324

Lets hope. I’m pretty optimistic after how Tekken 7 turned out, but I do hope they also ignore the shit fit already brewing over Sophitia on ResetEra

  • ProxyDoug

SC3 was good, a little slower than 2 but pretty good.

  • ProxyDoug

Not a huge fan of how Mitsurugi looks tbh

  • David Curry

Soph is showing healthy bosom already. Hot videogame girls isn’t a big issue for me, just the suppression of creative freedom. Ivy needs to stay the Ivy we all know and love, even with the inevitable crybully campaign on social media and “those” game sites preparing for her character reveal, as well as ESPN frowning on the games they choose to broadcast during esports events.

  • Madbrainbox

There’s now way she’d be absent.

  • Madbrainbox

    Noctis should be in SC.

  • Madbrainbox

This made me extremely happy. Also, glad the star of the announcement is Mitsurugi.

  • Madbrainbox

I’m not bothered by it but an older Mitsurugi skin would be great.

  • Madbrainbox

    And asses.

  • Justin Williams

About time Soul Calibur made a comeback with a worthy game. Fingers crossed for a return to greatness but PLEASE no DLC/ Micro-transaction trickery!

  • YES FINALLY, AFTER ALL THIS TIME!
I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU SOULCALIBUR, I NEVER WENT ANYWHERE.
    COME ON HOME BABY.

  • Qwaserzero

Ivy and Taki or no buy.

  • NukeA6

Yeah and it had some pretty good content even if the Character Creation seemed to be what led the series to a wrong direction.

  • Funtime Happysnacks

Bethesda has set this unrealistic standard for Switch ports (even though their ports were all total shit), now that Skyrim is on Switch people think “literally ANY game should be able to run on Switch!”

  • No_Good_Names_Ever
  • No_Good_Names_Ever

Mitsurugi is looking a lot younger so I’m thinking at least back before SCV.

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

If we’re going the RPG route and series Square wouldn’t push; Dragon Quest would be a far better choice. My money is on them using anime characters this go.

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

He’d be a far better fit but he shouldn’t be in Soul Calibur; he’s poison.

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

Even if Mitsurugis youthful appearance means she’s full blown loli?

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

First series I ever saw ass jiggle physics.

  • A Loli que não jantou

Well, I don’t know about ANY game but I’m sure a game like Soul Caliber could be ported with no problems. Heck, Doom was ported and Square Enix is looking into porting Final Fantasy 15.

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

Is Dragon Quest Heroes still messed up?

  • Madbrainbox

I’ll play the new FF when it comes out on PC but as a fighting character he looks fine to me.

  • A Loli que não jantou

I didn’t know there was a problem with Dragon Quest heroes.

  • CrimsonX4

    Yeah it really was :(
I’m sad the producer and him left. Specially after the delivered a good game considering all the limitations. I hope they are working in a better work environment.

  • -fishy-GAMEs-

You hope every game is made with UE4 because you don’t appreciate or respect the art of custom game engines, the technical skill involved in it or the distinct visual signatures across them. You want every game tolimit it’s potential, look & feel the same and ultimately become boring homogenized conforming goop through the path of least resistance because of your communist-tier platform loyalty to PC which completely blinds you from developing respect for various aspects of this medium of entertainment.

I’m not saying UE4 is a bad engine even though I am sick of looking and playing games developed in it because they all feel the same however you only like it because of it’s stability with PC and because it somehow helps secure PC ports but if you weren’t such aimmense looser and retard who’s too worried about missing out on games to play purely because he’s too anal and spiteful to play games on anything beside a PC then perhaps you’d raise your standards a little fucking higher than literal UE4 shilling(a thing I could’ve never have imagined would exist in any reasonable capacity yet somehow here we are)and instead encourage developers to develop their own technical skill set to create custom game engines that are tailored specifically for individual games allowing games to develop their own unique identities and qualities while bringing their strongest technical assets forward for it’s target platform. And more exclusives too since games will
always look and play better when they’re being fully optimized for a
single platform instead of moving targets.

I want to see video games full potential it’s as simple as that and no, performance, frame rates and resolution is not intrinsically linked to a games actual quality and commie begging for all devs to use UE4 because because you’ve already missed out on so many games this year due to being chained to Steam is retarded. I fucking wish you cared more about video games than platform loyalty and the day you transition from being a salty dumb ass fanboy into a real video gamer who loves the very art of video games I will rejoice.

  • Matthew Hartley

Eh, if it was an FF character I’d prefer someone a little more in the classic FF titles’ style, like Celes or Cecil, though I guess their relevance is pretty much in the ether these days…though that didn’t stop Geese Howard returning for Tekken so maybe I should be more hopeful about slightly more obscure options.

  • Mordeth_Kai

3 was always my favorite, I hope they bring back single player content and keep custom characters. I used to play the campaigns with my family and friends, passing the controller when their character would have a fight.
