Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana Localization Fix and PC Version Delayed to Early 2018

NIS America has announced the localization update and fix for Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is being delayed to sometime early next year. The game’s PC version has also been delayed to launch alongside this new localization.

“This is going to come as no surprise to many of you, but after beginning this revision, we have realized that due to the scope of this undertaking, we will unfortunately not be able to release by the end of this month as we had originally intended,” NISA senior associate producer Alan Costa noted in an update.

The localization update features a revised translation of the game’s current release with a new translator, a full re-edit of the entire script (both voiced and non-voiced parts), re-recording of voice work, debugging of the new build, and corrections to items and such.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is currently available for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. In case you missed it, you can find our review for the game here (we recommend it but note the translation needs work).

  • Leandro Teixeira

Will this be the game that finaly sinks NISA? I really hope so, I also hope that Falcom learned their lesson, because if they went with XSEED/Marvelous this shit wouldn’t happen in the 1st place

  • Vex

XSEED were probably upfront about them not getting the game out this year if they did get it. All NISA had to say was “yeah, we’ll get it out in 2017 AND have the PC port out the same day.” I really doubt Falcom are happy. I doubt this will sink NISA, unfortunately.

  • Jack

    NISA is shit.

  • Jack Thompson

    HIGH STANDARDS OF QUALITY

  • Neppers

    LMAOOOOOO NISA A SHIT

  • NukeA6

You just had to upvote yourself just to make your comment look worth something. Very cute.

  • Uncle Ocelot

Upvoting yourself is sad even by your standards.

  • Jack Thompson

    I have high hopes.

  • Uncle Ocelot

It probably won’t sink them but it will most likely prevent them from localising another Falcom game for quite a while, some other publishers may also think twice.

  • Mr0303

NISA really messed up this one. I don’t think they’ll be getting the Ys IP after this.

  • orbo

Probably wont sink them, but I seriously doubt Falcom will ever hire nisa again.
They were given a shot, and not only did they blow it but did so in an incredibly embarrassing manner.

  • Leandro Teixeira

Well that will give credit to XSEED then, NISA did deliver on releasing it 2017 but now not only do they have to fix an entire game basicaly they also did not deliver on the port yet so like Ocelot said others might think twice and go solo or ask others to publish, kinda like Frontwing went solo after the constant delays by Sekai in regards to the Grisaia series on PC

  • Mea K

Falcom’s most likely livid. NISA aren’t normally known to put in this kind of effort to fix their mistakes, and the original announcement of the retranslation lines up suspiciously well with the fan e-mail campaign to inform Falcom about NISA’s shoddy work.

Someone got a very angry phone call.

  • Jack Thompson

But I feel disingenuous if I can’t agree with myself.

  • Mechonis

They couldn’t do this shit in 1 year, you honestly believed them when they said they could redo it all in a month or two? I hope this company burns

  • Leandro Teixeira

Kinda happy this happened with a big title, if it was a smaller one they would just sweep it under the rug, now at least even the casual gamer will see that NISA has a tendency to fuck up big time

  • MusouTensei

You know what would have prevented this NISA? PROPERLY LOCALIZING THE GAME FROM THE BEGINNING!
God I hope this mess shows Falcom that NISA can’t be trusted.

  • Mechonis

He is a Sonygger, his standards are pretty low

  • blackice85

Yea reportedly the same day PC port release was important for Falcom. So not only is Nisa late on that, but they’ve got to redo a lot of other things. Falcom should be aware that it can reflect badly on the Ys franchise itself too, as casual players may not be aware of the difference between developer and publisher/localization company.

  • braneman

I wonder if at this point they delay releases like this more to improve consumer confidence rather than to fix significantly more issues. Not NISA specifically just in general, I feel like I see this a lot at Ubisoft.

  • Fixing the entire game by November was an impossible task anyway, so this doesn’t surprise me. I would honestly be impressed if they actually produce good work by the end of this.

  • Joshua

  • uncle_alfred

To quote some chinese dude from japan:
“A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.
    And so is NISA game”.

  • CDan

    Nice.
I only wish Aksys would get the same amount of complains about Blazblue translations.

  • Leandro Teixeira

That’s some good Ancient Chinese Knowledge right there

    how satisfying

  • Nagato

Yeah, what kind of cuck would even consider upvoting himself in the first place?

  • Nagato

I heard he later corrected himself too:

“A delayed game is eventually good, but a NISA game will kill your hardware.”

  • Vex

Well, I don’t know the specifics, but ArcSys just opened up an American branch right? That should mean Aksys lost BlazBlue and Guilty Gear.

Aksys also did piss poor work on Tokyo Xanadu, but didn’t get nailed as hard as NISA unfortunately.

of all the things that annoy me within the past two generations of games, is that there is this mentality of “Oh shit we’ll fix it later with internet patches” with single player games it’s just not excusable. Once a game is shipped, that’s it. There’s not much fixing a company can do. The core remains the same.

It’s honestly disgusting just look at FFXV. It’s shit and rushed because of that. Other than that and a few other nitpicks, I love modern games just like the old ones. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/64be6718690fa699c07ae4b3b8651ad07c1ba78372ee5994533693cfaf394917.png

Couldn’t agree more. Still waiting to see how they’ll fuck up the Baldr series. Will it be censorship like Maitetsu I wonder. The only reason I’ve been holding back on playing Wagama High Spec is because they did the TL, and the last time they did that World End Economica EP2 translation was born

  • Jack Thompson

    “hella”
I mean, depending on the personality of the character that ‘might’ be oka-
    “Fukkleducks…”
Into the bottom of the trash it goes.

  • Roy

The franchise really deserved a better debut in the west, it would’ve naturally fed into hype to Tokyo Xandu EX+ as well and could’ve help made a bigger name for Falcom in the west. You can use early adopters to fund and eventually fix problems but you can’t launch the game again and give it the pre-release hype and a decent product delivery it deserved, that’s a opportunity that’ll never come back and that’s what bothers me the most. I regret buying this game not because it isn’t a good game but because it enabled Nisa and for that I deeply apologize, consider my lesson learned.

  • NukeA6

Uh, what? The kid amuses way more than he offends me.

  • PenguinPlayer

I expected NISA to fuck up. But like, typos and bugs. This is another level of fucking up, this is advanced fucking up, very few people can fuck up like this unless they deliberately put effort into fucking up. What I’m trying to say is: Not even in my wildest dreams did I expect them to put in so little effort into this localization, at this point I’d rather just hook up the game’s script to Google Translator and it would probably give me a better result.

  • JohnnyCageFan2

Yeah but they have gold-ish headphones and knitted Kanye shoes.

  • JohnnyCageFan2

With regards to localizing other games, I find it’s Eeyore, for some reason, telling me this:
If it was money which got them the rights in the first place, money will probably do it again.

    —-
XSEED localized on other games in the series, but Falcom didn’t give fuck. XSEED said there were legal issues preventing Japanese audio, but now there’s dual audio and always could be. There’s probably valid reasons for why things are the way they are. It’s not like at the end of the day, player wants to play, but gets played instead.

  • JohnnyCageFan2

Maybe to be like reddit. Can’t you like your own posts on Facebook too?

  • JohnnyCageFan2

They could also make (if I recall) unsolicited promises and just not fulfill them. Tubthumping probably plays all day every day if they can chug-along with all these fuck-ups.

  • HAHAHAHAHA! You are delusional. Vita is dead.

  • Vita owners have to learn Japanese as they are not getting any games in English. HA!

  • Jettythesunfish

    What the fukkleduck?

  • Jettythesunfish

They can put effort into censoring a game and even going out of their way to have an artist redraw their work. They can put effort into renaming a character as a tasteless joke for no reason. But proper localization? Too hard, apparently.

  • BFG

There are plenty of japanese-only games either on computer systems, home consoles & handhelds. Add also the possibility to play the games in their original version instead of relying on a localization.

  • reblinds

Its still getting new games, pc gamers still beg for ports from it, so at least its doing better than that.

  • Your daddy. :)

  • But way would I when gaming in Japan is a shell of it’s former shelf. Think about it kid.

  • Justin Williams

It’ll be cool to get the update but honestly the localization is playable as-is. Reading one of your team-members say they took a shit has it’s charm.

  • Justin Williams

NISA… yea not so good….BUT we got an new Falcom Y’s game in (slightly flawed) English. I’m stoked that in a era of less and less stuff coming out for old schoolers we got a new Y’s game and its actually BADASS. Gotta take the good with the bad sometimes. I agree though- in the future Falcom needs to put its localization’s in more capable hands. Kinda makes me miss Working Designs.

  • Leandro Teixeira

Damn, they must have bended to the fans. But I will still old my breath, as I have learned before if they don’t fuck up the release they fuck up the translation, Nekopara is like an ode to that, the VN where if the chara speaks broken JP english they translate it to french because fuck it. there’s that and all the title they keep buying the right off are gonna have to come out to they gotta rush before the players lose their shit, they’ve already got a pretty bad rep among VNs addicts (me included)

  • Leandro Teixeira

Oh yeah, the+18 versions of Griasaia taking FUCKING AGES to come even tough it’s just a few extra CG and most of the dialogue is erotic panting (well, if the translators have to take breaks every 5 minutes to fap that would be understandable but still doesn’t justify the months of delays). Plus there’s all those games they say they’re gonna release then they give no news off, they said something about a World End Economica PS Vita collection over a year ago and I didn’t see shit.
As for translations, well they have 3 ways of doing things. The DIY way where they do it themseves and fuck up big time or soften the dialogue for god know’s what purposes because it’s a +18 game no kid should be playing it or shit like WEE happens or Nekopara where they tl broken english to french. There’s the “I’m gonna steal yur shite” way like the shady shit that happened with G.Senjou no Mahou that they “brushed” the original tl (how can a company that only fuck ups tls brush the original tl that’s good idk) and censored the shit out of the game. And last and also the main reason I dream every night of torching their HQ to the ground there’s the coerce way, this refers to what they did with Route Double, where they bought off and entire fan tl team and “pushed them” into their droping their fan tl projects. Here’s what pissed the shit out of me, that same team was the one that was translating 12Riven, the last VN of the KID series of VNs, which I played all the other (Never7, Ever17 and Remeber11) and was fucking expecting it for years, and of course Killer Queen, they translated the original version and we’re gonna start tling Secret Game KILLER QUEEN that was the definitive edition which included all route. And what did we get? A VN that caused problems to most people who bought on Steam to bad resolution porting in my case the game didn’t even run.

Anyways sorry for the long ass rant, I just hate Sekai Project, why does every industry gotta have that dick that only fucks up but somehow ends up getting a lot of good titles that should be handled by MangaGamer or JAST?

  • mew

Yeh I know, I still remember how they fucked up Shiny Days several years ago.

  • Leandro Teixeira

Shiny Days was by JAST, iirc correctly they removed a scenes with the loli that to which a restoration patch was released several days BEFORE the release of the the, they said they had nothing to do with it even though the patches that came to fix bugs that came after the game was released have 2 version, 1 to patch the normal version and 1 to patch the restored version of the game, JAST knows what they’re doing XD

  • mew

Actually Shiny Days was translated by Sekai Project back when they were still a “fansub” group. I blame that faggot Kanna (the old leader) for the censorship because he shit his pants over the loli content potentially getting him into jail.

  • JohnnyCageFan2

    Don’t worry about the length.

Grisaia: While I didn’t have the expectation myself, it’s not uncensored because Frontwing lost the CGs. Are you fucking kidding? (+1 for MangaGamer who released the uncensored version of Kara no Shōjo from ’08) Then when they said they’d add the Vita-exclusive content to the unrated PC version. It’s like they realized that it was a bad fucking idea to promise the all of the content of one version in the other at the same price. Either they *were* lazy in translating or didn’t want the 18+ version to compete with the 17+ version, knowing who would win.

Feels like Sekai trolls VNDB for nice-looking visual novels which just so happen to have a fan translation either released or upcoming. Agreed, a company which shits the bed as much as Sekai Project shouldn’t be trusted with anything other the low-quality jerk-off bait that is Sakura whatever. It should be more than enough to keep them head and shoulders above water.

  • Leandro Teixeira

I didn’t know that, thanks for the info. So basicaly Sekai was the Fakku of the industry, small group everybody used as meme and then all of a sudden they grow into a large monster that eats up good titles, spits them out in the worst condition possible and charges seperate for +18 patches that should part of the game in the 1st place, fucking glorious that. It should’ve died while it was small

  • mew

IMO biggest issue is many of their releases never even had a h-patch.

  • Leandro Teixeira

At least Frontwing started going solo after the shit fest Grisaia was in terms of releases, hell, the only reason the translation is good is because they got TLWiki on board which did the glorious fan translation on the 1st one which for some reason also got a delayed +18 official patch when it had been released for ages as a fan tl. They probably wanted to do like they did with their other titles and charge for the +18 patch (rememeber Imouto Works that gave away the content for free as it should and almost got sewed by Sekai?) but Frontwing said no so they probably delayed it for countless times to see if they could get double buy from people it’s just my assumption but if that’s not the case then that would mean their sole intention was to make only the All Ages version. I remember there was a debacle around this where people that funded the game were pissed about the delays and someone from Sekai said that on the kickstarter it said no such thing about promises of +18 patches and they could just not do it, when in fact there were explicit points saying that the fund included +18 versions or DenpaSoft version as they call it. It feels like Sekai just doesn’t want to do +18 with fear of being flamed by SJWs or just to cut back on tl or editing expenses of CGs but that’s just stupid, in a age where MangaGamer has released games like Euphoria and JAST Starless plus with the upcoming uncut release of Maggot Baits (MAGGOT FUCKING BAITS, that shit is on the borderline of competing with the fuck up goodness Cyclet makes) that doesn’t really slide.

Oh that remimds me, I remember back when Sekai started appearing with all these big titles like G Senjou and Little Busters, Clannad etc, I went browsing on VNDB and found a thread where people were complaining about the bs censorship on G Senjou and there was a Sekai figurehead there basicaly insulting the people there trying to justify it. I tried to find the thread again today but I couldn’t find it (it was about 2 years ago). I agree with you tough, they should just keep to that Sakura bs series they have. It should be more than enough for them because when you look at it they rarely do shit for themselves, they it take from others or what’s already made or they make others do it for them, that’s the SP’s way. I can already see that the next title they’ll “release” will probably be Noble Works or something along those lines.

  • Vex

You don’t have to take the bad. If you are able you can import the game and not give a cent to NISA’s hackjob. Also, Working Designs were NISA before NISA. Meaning they were shit.

  • Justin Williams

    I disagree. Loved Working Designs.

  • JohnnyCageFan2

You’re probably right about wanting people to buy it twice.

Finding a specific post of Raymond acting like an asshole in 2015 is like looking for a needle in a haystack. :) With that said, I’m taking a wild shot in the dark, is it comment #15? http://archive.is/lxMkP

Good on FrontWing for tossing them as soon as they could. They sound similar, I wonder if he acted like a bitch, as Brendan McNamara reportedly did with Rockstar. I personally hope they don’t touch MajiKoi, someone else yes, but not them. Only saw it now, they have a kickstarter for Hoshizora no Memoria… It’s probably the “I’m gonna steal yur shite” method since a full English patch is already out.

As with Ys and NISA, the games they’ve published seriously deserve better. These guys aren’t worth anyone’s money or time for that matter. Buy the game, download the patch (there probably will be one, going by the way they operate), and let this “world” fucking burn.

  • Leandro Teixeira

Holy shit bro you found the thread XD, yup that thread is the beggining of a proverbial firefight between him and the people that ultimately support the industry.

IIRC Majikoi, at least the 1st one the only one announced so far, will come by JAST. That’s one title I’ll be skipping tough since I already play it along with S and A-1 and A-2 and I’m currently sitting and waiting for the patch on A-3 and the rest.

Idk how NISA manages to stay afloat right now, their latest games have been shit (that tokyo tattoo girls or wtvr it was called crashed and burned in japan so badly), they’ve been striped of their biggest titles like the Atelier series and the Nep series and now they even resort to making promises they can’t keep and rushing the games so they come out like, well this flamming trainwreck of a translation. This whole thing has me having flashbacks of KonoSora, or If My heart had wings has those butchers at MoeNovel put it. They fucked the TL SO badly it’s been about 2/3 years and the fan retranslation patch hasn’t even finished yet. Plus they now released an alternatve version of LoveKami in all ages just so that iff we say “It’s censored” they can say “it’s a different game”. Hope all three of them burn tbh the industry is better of without them.

  • JohnnyCageFan2

You gave me enough hints to find it. He looks to talk shit then delete his comments, so I was surprised that it was still there. Missed the original announcement on the MajiKoi release. Still busy with the first one myself, going for Mayucchi (last heroine) after Ume-sensei. Looking forward to the translation of Tsujidō-san no Jun’ai Road also by Minatosoft.

    > Hope all three of them burn tbh the industry is better of without them.

I can’t agree with that sentiment more. Shit, completely forgot about MoeNovel and them wanting to make 18+ visual novels for 12 year-old French girls. Also no shame saying that they changed all of it because they removed the H-scenes. Won’t start on Sekai charging for the H-scenes as DLC. NISA can always bleed Europe and the rest of the world if NA becomes tired of them.

  • Leandro Teixeira

Mayucchi has one of the best routes imo (good thing about every Majikoi game is that every route is different) it doesn’t beat the Agave route tough that one is da shit. You gotta give Yamato the true MVP title in every route he allways does something that blows my mind away, especially the “night raid preparation” in Chris route it was one of the best moments in the game XD.

Man, I forgot the 12 year-old French girls thing that MoeNovel said, hell after KonoSora I just prayed that they didn’t do any other title yet here they are again with a new title, fortunately it’s a lesser one but we never know what the future holds. And I really doubt that NISA would be able to stay afloat with Europe only. In my case I live in Europe and in my country JRPG’s are the most difficult genre to find, last NISA game I saw for sale on a store was a lone copy of Disgaea 4 in the discount bin for 7 bucks and that was 3/4 years ago, also from what I see there’s almost allways avaiable copies of LE’s in EU even after the game releases, it must be because their online shop here just suck so bad but even so it goes for show that people here don’t really want to go the extra mile to get the LE

  • Cwbintennessee Michael Winton

I’ve never played any of the Ys games
    Looks pretty neat

  • JohnnyCageFan2

It’s cool not having to play through the same story multiple times, you can just sit and relax. I’ll look forward to both of those routes. Momo’s one currently holds the standard for me.

Definitely, he had serious balls doing that, thought it was a dream or a joke until about halfway through. Also the way he schemes and always gets the upper hand against Kokoro like spanking her on camera and saying that she has no appeal. ;) Due to his name, he can make jokes about “firing his main cannon.”

It’s probably safe to say that any VN they “make” is fucked from the beginning. If you want, here’s (from what I gather) the full interview. https://web.archive.org/web/20140725025058/http://projetsaya.fr/interview-with-fujisan-producer-at-moenovel/ I fall into “The Rest of the World” distribution area and personally haven’t seen anything at physical stores. Picked up pre-owned copies here and there from online hobby shops within the country. But as you said, pickings are slim for JRPGs with limited editions being nonexistent. Maybe NISA does have a chance to burn.

  • Leandro Teixeira

For me, I can’t really choose a route since they are all so damn different and good XD. Heroine wise, I would probably take AIS from A or Chris if you’re only counting the main ones.

The Yamato “firing his cannon” only get better when in times he enters a trance like state and actually talks to it and it even talks back. I ain’t gonna spoil you much but whoever wrote the dialogue on those scenes should be awarded a medal, it’s briliant XD.

I’m gonna be honest, I can count in 1 hand the numbers of VNs I saw on retail in my country, and if you apply the count to PC only the number is 0. The copies I do have are ones that against all odds and probably the lowest probability numbers ever are the ones I somehow found in local anime events that god knows how the shopkeepers manage to get their hands on (JP edtions too which is even weirder and rarer). What I’m gonna do now is simple, see how it pans out for NISA and then after they eventually unfuck themselves I want to see which games they release. if it’s big titles it means they somehow sucked enough japanese executive cock to stay afloat if it starts being shit small fry games then it means this indeed delivered a bigger blow and the damage was more on the in than outside

  • JohnnyCageFan2

Side heroines are fair game too. While I don’t know who you mentioned, I so far find they’ve put effort into fleshing out the girls’ personalities. Ume-chan…

It talks back? I can’t wait and help but wonder how it happens and what kind of conversation it would have with Matsukaze.

Were those new or pre-owned copies you found at events? While I’m betting on this Ys issue not being a big deal in the long run, it probably is best being cautious and seeing how their apology affects their actions and localization efforts in the future.

  • Leandro Teixeira

It will talk back and you’ll be suprised since it talks like some sort of wise man that has unlocked the mysteries of the universe.

I found some new copies (like untouched, never opened before) and some were pre-owned (the clerk was nice enough to let everyone know which ones were pre-owned), worry not tough, the Japanese defenition of pre-owned is basicaly in the box new.

Well, since they crossed Falcom, which has made it’s name in Japan, that may spread among other big names in the industry and that’s what could cause companies to avoid sending big titles into NISA’s pocket. it’s all just me dreaming for now, but I really hope that does happen. They may have NIS behind them, but even NIS hasn’t released anything big lately so from my point of view NISA really needs to handle other companie’s games, this could potentialy cause some big names to hold back

That’s giving off some Yonpachi vibes when they went peaking towards the end Kazuko’s route.

That was cool of the clerk, especially if they could pass it off as new. No kidding, their standards for secondhand goods seem particularly high. Most-likely due to “box heavy damage”, bought Takamura Yui Off Style ver. unopened and way under market value from Mandarake. Expected a concave, but there was barely a dent.

PQube is getting more and more releases (albeit different ones), so they do need to step up their game.

  • Leandro Teixeira

Hold the phone bro, you have a Takamura Yui Off Style ver. figure by Skytube too? So that means you like Muv Luv too right? Glad to see another man of culture. This year on a event I also bought Takamura Yui Hienbyakurei Kotobukya shop exclusive sealed and in the box where she has a katana instead of a parasol (I srsly have no idea how the hell does a intact Japan exclusive end up in my country but I’m not gonna question the odds when they decide to be good to me). I recently bought a bundle of Light novels in a second hand online sale from a japanese and if it wasn’t for the fact that the owner himself told me he had read them you could pass them off as new, no stains, no creases no nothing, it’s like it just came out of the bookstore.

PQube is still a little green tough, I read S;G0 by them and I could tell the tl was a little rough in some parts, nothing too serious but you can see they’re still getting used to the niche market and the translation business with time tough they might stand alongside Marvelous, we never know. It’s not as bad as NISA, srsly, never go full NISA.

  • JohnnyCageFan2

Yep, I originally watched Total Eclipse for Yui’s voice actor and enjoyed it in spite of Yuuuuya. A fair backlog is keeping me from playing all of the games though. That is some luck to get her in-country without having to jump through hoops with shipping and customs. Man, but her contrasting expression from the regular edition along with her katana drives home the point not to fuck with her while still looking elegant. It’s like Kotobukiya can’t make a bad Yui figure.

He must have been really gentle with them not to excessively bend the spines. Don’t know about your country, but here we’d buy new CDs and DVDs and the fucking covers are broken with disc sliding everywhere (thankfully never games and thankfully not all the time).

True. Personally, a mistake here and there is fine as they don’t fuck up and become too big for their boots. And with all the choice now nowadays, it really is hard to go full NISA. ;)

  • Leandro Teixeira

I watched Total Eclipse too when I was searching the net for good mecha titles, I didn’t know anything about VNs at the time but I heard people say that Muv Luv is has best as it gets when it came to mecha and I gotta say, Total Eclipse was good with the exception of Yuuya (altough the episode when he blasts the railgun is pretty epic I gotta say) and that “To be continued…” BS ending. Glad that Schwarzesmarken (also another Muv Luv spin off) took a mre serious tone and I gotta say, one of the best mecha anime out there filled with politics and no special overpowered mecha BS. I agree, Kotobukiya really knows how to make Yui figures, I also lucked out since I got the figure for half it’s value (paid 45 euros) because the shop owner was desperate to get rid of it, he said he had it for sale for 3 years and he gradually knocked the price down from 110 which was the original asking price, down to 70 then 50 and I managed to talk him down to 45 XD, thank fuck Muv Luv isn’t popular in my country, and when I say Muv Luv I say the same for other series that have 0 popularity here that allow me to swipe figures for lower prices. Altough I still have to import most of the times because the really niche figures can’t be found anywhere here, I recently bought a Saya no Uta that basicaly no shop here even knew it existed and was up for pre order.

Ah yes I’ve had that problem, last year a booth at a local event was selling CDs from Japan, I bought quite a bunch, mostly Vocaloid but also OSTs, due to shipping tough the “teeth” that holds the cds were broken, the CDs were flawless but it just doesn’t quite hold the CD. BD’s and DVD on the other hand are super rare, the only one I have was a set of HOTD BD I found for sale on an event for next to nothing, asides from that I haven’t saw any other BD or DVD sets.

I hope they continue to go the way they’re going, PQube does have potential they just have to gain the experience.

  • JohnnyCageFan2

I’ll concede that, wiping out a plane full of BETA was indeed sweet. That and him not groping Cryska while she was unconscious. :) IMO, Yui and Cryska were strong enough to hold the show without him and that the series would have been better had it been like the first two episodes. I’m glad they didn’t hold back on that helpless tone. I agree though, not getting a full conclusion was crappy. Good to know about Schwarzesmarken, put it on the back burner as I didn’t know how its 12 episodes would fare against Total Eclipse’s 24.

Down to 45 from 110 is a massive saving. While it was obviously it was good for you, it kinda sucks that nobody wanted her for three years. And limited edition too. Speaking of Cryska, I don’t think Kotobukiya has any bad ones of her either. After next year’s pre-orders, gonna check for her Easy Jacket version though. Nah, I’m talking about regular, in-country produced CDs and DVDs with fucked up cases. They can’t even use the excuse that it came from overseas, it came from like over there (100~200km away). >.< Missed her too, but damn she looks nice with that soft expression. By the way, which Vocaloids do you like?

  • Leandro Teixeira

Schwarzesmarken got made in a more smart way, the VN has 2 parts which means there are 2 different games, when the 1st season of the anime was released to adapt the 1st game, the 2nd one hadn’t been released yet and when it ended they hinted to a 2nd season, the 2nd game released on the end of 2016 so if a 2nd season was indeed in the works I would expect news about it next year or so. And you’re right, the anime would have done better without Yuuya imo, if you ask me the bs romance on the latter part of the anime only got in the way of the action.

I’ll have to hold out on figures next years due to the sheer amount of games I want, I’ve got the memorial edition of Project DIVA releasing on the end of this month, along with Girls und Panzer, GBF’s Project Re:Link, [email protected], Yakuza 6, Hokuto ga Gotoku and most recently announced Shining Resonance Refrain, altough I admit the new Saekano figure and next year’s Snow Miku figure are really making me consider part with some of the jewels from my collection to fund all of that XD. Like youI I too want a Cryska figure and one figure of her loli sister too (forgot her name) but I haven’t spoted any so I guess I’ll have to hunt down one when I have the time and money. Having in-country produced broken DVD and CD for sale is pretty bad, do they even sell in that state?

Vocaloid wise I like Miku ofc, I also listen to Meiko a lot, Piano x Fort x Scandal and Boukyaku Shinjuu. I also liste a lot to GUMI which has some pretty good sounds especially the ones by Last Note. My favourite tough is IA, I even have the LE of her game and all her released figures so far including the ONE (her sister) one.

  • JohnnyCageFan2

Thanks for the heads up, maybe I’ll wait a few months for an announcement and watch everything in one go. Wholly agreed (he’s not even that cool) and the dick sucking towards the end was a bit much; Yuuya could do no wrong~.

Those are a lot games, following you for all besides the [email protected] one with Yakuza 6 being at the top. Refrain must have been that phantom announcement Tony made back in July, huh? Murakumo Kai Ni (Kantai Collection) and Loungewear Lancer are my only figure pre-orders, but rings and slots for KanColle take up everything else. The outside would look fine and still be wrapped in plastic, it was like those cheap jewel cases were used. Like you mentioned in your post, some of the teeth holding disc would be broken. Not as often, but the hinges would break too, leaving you with two parts. :p

Inia (Cryska’s sister?) in her strengthening suit version is nice with her flowing hair, but not sure if I’d miss her in my collection. I can see why you said museum piece, the translucency of her wings along with the gradation of the paint looks really nice. The light reflecting off the base looks really well done too. Ah, another Miku fan (though she’d get dropped for Luka in a heartbeat!). And that is some dedication to IA.

  • Leandro Teixeira

I’m waiting patiently for the pre-orders for EU to open up for Yakuza 6, I want that damn After Hours edition but the pre orders are US only for now which is bullshit, if I miss out on it because of SEGA’s dick attitude towards the EU they’re gonna get some angry complaint letters for me. Shining Force Refrain got a trailer yesterday (Here you go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRgMFRJ_Pnk this site is getting a little late on the Niche news as of late imo). I’m seriously holding back on anything KanColle related or I would pretty much have a whole shrine dedicated to it, so far I only have a Akagi, Murasame Kai (premium series) and a Wo class, 2 years ago I saw a Hoppou for sale in a event but it was gone by time I manage to squirm my way through the endless sea of people to get to the both (I still cry about it every night), altough I don’t buy rings I knew slots were gonna be a problem when i started playing about 3 years ago so I bought 60 in one go and I still have 20 to burn through (really glad I made that investment XD), a little bit of topic tough, but am I the only one that sees 0 appeal in Azure Lane? Comunity’s getting pretty toxic because of it. Ah yes the cover breaking off happened to a friend of mine too, he later said he opened up the cover and pulled out the labels and such and manage to put them in a new case he had (pretty smart).

I like Inia so I would really like a figure of her, problem is with all Muv Luv Alternative stuff it’s getting really hard to track down figures that aren’t the mechs, through more trusted means ofc, you could go on ebay or amazon but you would be taking a gamble because there are a lot of people that sell bootlegs. I like Luka too, otetsu really does some damn good songs with her, I really like Black Gold for example and Stardust Utopia, and it’s really hard not to love IA, her voice and design overall, I have 0 complaints, altough she doesn’t have a big music library when compared to the mainstream what she has is real high quality stuff like Cloud Rider, Six Trillion Years and a Overnight Story and Asu no Yozora Shoukaihan, what I also find really nice about her is the flexibility of the voice, you can use to sing a fast rock song like Setsuna Drive or a deep slow emotional song like Sakurasou and her voice is a perfect match in completely opposite styles.

  • JohnnyCageFan2

Hm, Zavvi has it for £79.99. It has the PEGI 18 logo on the cover shot and there’s no mention of it being a US import. https://www.zavvi.com/games-ps4/yakuza-6-the-song-of-life-after-hours-premium-edition/11536048.html
Thank you for the trailer. I have to agree with you there, wouldn’t have known about Refrain if you hadn’t have mentioned it. Hopefully they make good on a western release.

Agreed, it can easily get out of hand with the amount of figures they release. Paying the man of culture compliment back to you, getting Murasame’s figure. Figure-wise I only have FuRyu’s Northern Princess and Kashima’s Nendoroid at the moment. Skipping Amakuni’s Mutsu on pre-order is my own regret. Lucky you, gonna probably have to buy during the event. By the way, should call you “Senpai”, only going into my third year in December. You aren’t alone, it’s as if KanColle is approaching its death and Azur Lane is solely to blame for it. Some of the guys (on reddit) just won’t shut up about it.

Personally, I’d have to be really desperate to go for eBay and Amazon (non-JP). Then again with eBay if it’s cheap there’s a good chance it’s a bootleg. Yes! I already liked her, but Stardust Utopia sealed it for me. That’s a lot of high praise for IA, I’ll have a look-see at some of her songs.

  • Leandro Teixeira

Thanks for the heads up, I’ll have to check at my local shops to see if the pre orders are up, went last month but no pre orders back then, I want to avoid online this time, because there are no words that can describe how shitty, crappy and incompetent the postal service is here if the cups got damaged during shipping it would be a pain in the ass to prove it wasn’t me and get a replacement. Refrain is one of those game I’ll just import, I’ve missed out on the Shining releases on PS3 and now they’re super expensive on Play-Asia, plus Refrain is a remake of the original just including all DLC and a few bonus.

Ah damn you probably got the Hoppou figure I wanted and Murasame was just looking to damn good to pass up, last year I bought Akagi and a lot a [email protected] figures to be one step closer to finishing my figure set of all the chara from idolmas in their movie costume (only 3 to go) and on the 2nd day of the event (when I was out of cash) the both where I bought Akagi received more figures and among them was a Sendai K2 figure, I was completely drained so I had to let her go (still kick myself over it), I also saw a Amatsukaze but upon closer inspection the Kanji on the box were all wrong and the painting on it was horrible, the worst part of finding bootlegs is that initial assumption that you found a figure you really want just to get cockblocked because it is a fake. Please refrain from doing that XD we’re only a few months apart. I really doubt KC dies, people are only moving to the “newer game” which is allway what happens. Of course Tanaka doesn’t help either he basicaly closed of KC to newbies since events are gradually getting harder and downright impossible to newer player to pass even on easy, last 2 events we’re the first ones I couldn’t clear, the Gangut one because of really bad RNG and I was stuck at Last Dance for a week, the Ark Royal one because E-6 just drained me, I managed to reach E-7 Last Dance on the last few day but again bad RNG didn’t even let me reach the boss because the 2 himes at the pre boss nuked me, if you ask me tough the real prize of that one was Richlieu on E-5, Ark Royal sucks so bad for a E-7 ship. This even ain’t no different, it’s super gimmicky like a Nintendo console, and again there’s a giant TP bar at E-3 with 700 to clear it plus now all the maps seem to have either more than 1 phase or hidden ways to open up nodes needed to clear the map, I’m almost a 4 year veteran with lots of K2 ships and equips and even I find hard to clear some events. KC ain’t a begginer friendly game anymore since even easy on some maps kick my ass (Sorry for the long rant again). But I really doubt KC will die, it has a lot of loyal fan like Touhou has, sure it may not be on the top of mainstream and may get brushed aside but there still are a lot of players who play it, I’ll probably keep playing till they decide to shut it down, I like how much strategy it employs along with the non-pay 2 win charm.

Yes I agree, Amazon and eBay are full of bootlegs since you can advertise whatever the hell you want there, even saw people printing artwork from Pixiv, framing it and selling it as “official merch.”. So you like Stardust Utopia too, I remember playing that till my fingers were sore in Project DIVA Extend, I’m really hyped for my Project DIVA Future Tone to arrive, since it has over 200 songs and I know that all from the previous PD are going to be in it, I’ve allways had my eye on it but I don’t like digital only, when I saw the phsycal version I preordered right away, can’t wait to see how the PV is on that one, I also really like other songs by her like Blackjack and Luka Luka Night Fever has its on charm (catchy af too).Do check IA’s songs, I’ll bet you’ll like her.

  • JohnnyCageFan2

You make a good point about the glasses (Are our Post Offices the same or something?). Even if you could prove it was the Post Office, you might only get a refund and not another copy if sold-out. Yeah I saw, 150 pieces of DLC. Pretty sure anyone who bought all of the DLC will be pissed at the announcement. Just like if (hopefully) KT releases Dead or Alive 5: Ultimate Last Round Plus with all the DLC included.

We seem to like the same shipgirls, can’t get enough of the night freak. Maybe, they only have two of prize figures of the Northern Princess besides the Nendoroid and Medicchu. I got lucky and got her off HLJ when they fucked up my paid order for Shining Blade’s Xiao-mei & Lin Lin. はい!While it sucks to get cock-blocked, at least you weren’t tricked into buying it. Saw a picture on a figure blog a while back where someone had an entire shelf (to the ceiling) filled with bootlegged figures they bought from anime conventions.

I agree with you, people always move to new games, but whether Azur Lane can stand on its own is another thing. “Killed it” as in good or bad? QBZ-95 from Girls Frontline is by the same illustrator too, they could be triplets. While I personally don’t mind the mature character design, I hate the KC rip-off in Atago’s swimsuit CG. The players are seemingly always nagging about which foreign ships should be added and how they’re better than the current girls. I’m unapologetically against having US & UK ships in the game. Haven’t sortied Ark yet and didn’t bother finishing for Iowa, Warspite, or Saratoga. On the newer players being excluded, I agree with you there. Newer players certainly don’t get anything for free in this game. It’s like we have to cut our teeth on events and fail miserably before we can get anywhere. And no kidding, Spring’s final boss was difficult, took me 35 sorties to clear on easy. It was either “fuck off” before the boss or almost dead. Yeah, E6 of last event drained the players instead of the other way around. That 2000 TP gauge was overkill in the worst way, it was just mind-numbingly boring. And that’s not to mention those fucking PT Imps not dying. I stuck it out for Graf and was rewarded off the third boss run and first S-rank. Richelieu is sassy as fuck, we need some more adult shipgirls like her. Yep, it’s CalmKolle, they aren’t distracting you with ads for events and promotions and tempting you into playing gacha like Granblue. By the way, have you begun the event yet?

That’s terrible that they’re allowed to get away with scummy behavior like that. Not a fan of digital only either and 200+ songs on disc is a very good deal, same with Shining Resonance Refrain. Somehow managed to unlock Extreme for Luka Luka Night Fever while being unable to beat Stardust Utopia on Normal. >.< Talking about catchy, what do you think of Miku's Ura-omote Lovers? I listened to Cloud Rider and Setsuna Drive so far, they are both good and don't know which I like more. The vocalization in Cloud Rider makes her sound like a real person. While the slightly metallic? tone fits the beat of Setsuna Drive nicely.

Probably because we’ve been talking here so much XD (if you want add me on fb, I used my acc. to sign up for disqus so look my name up, we can talk there, would like someone to talk to about VN since I don’t know anyone else that play XD)

Back to the topic at hand.
I had it happen once, I ordered a game prize figure of Togo Mimori from Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru and 1 thing you gotta know is, 9 out of 10 times my shit gets nabbed for customs and they cut it up to see what is inside, this time whoever the fuck did it actually cut the box and the figure, fortunately I have friends that ask me to do kind of unboxing videos and film the moment I open the boxes(curiosity I guess) and so I had the luck to film the moment I opened, fortunately AmiAmi were cool enough to send me a replacement, I did write a complaint on the complaint book at customs too. I wouldn’t feel pissed if it was me, because Resonance was released so many years ago I would just feel indifirent probably.

Indeed we do, one of my favs is still Shimakaze (yes, I know, but if it wasn’t for her and her doujins I wouldn’t be playing this game). And I’m gonna be honest and say that I’m jelly, I’ve allways wanted to own Shining figures (since they’re designed by Tony and he did the artwork for Fault!!! to which I enjoy the H scenes a lot and have cleared the games multiple times) but they’ve allways been expensive as hell. Man it must suck when someone who knows their shit says “hey bro, these are all fake” and that’s exactly why I avoid buying outside of online JP shops, even the american ones charge a boatload just on shipping (Tokyo Otaku Mode charged me 44 dolars for 1 figma).

When I said killed it I meant part of my interest in the game, what makes me like KC so much is the fact that most of the designs are actually unique and made by different artists if you just grab the same design and smack a different hairstyle and say “boom new chara” that’s just cheap, also AL has different skins that are something aside from the original ship which if you ask me is kinda BS, even tough right now they’re “free” they probably will start charging in the future like they do in GBF. I was against at first (still am a bit) I just gave up since I can’t do anything about it, I don’t find UK/US ships interesting either, more Vernyis would be nice tough. People need to see that they put investment in build the ships personality, in JPs ships case they have logs, diaries and etc of the crew and it’s easier to make a personality, for foreign ships that’s harder because either the docs are lost or they are for consultation only in the ship’s home country, I mean if you look at Ark Royal and even Warspite are pretty bland compared to the others( Sara imo being the only one that’s actually worth it) and more importantly they need VA’s that can speak decent english in the case of a US/UK ship, simply recycling the same ones like they’ve done with most JP ones doesn’t cut it in this case. Man I know that feel, I still kick myself for missing Gangut due to SHITTY SHITTY RNG, my friends with lvl 50 ships clearing that shit and me with high end gear and lvl 99 ships couldn’t land the final kill on easy due to that bitch BB hime tanking everything at night. That TP phase sucked so bad, I mean I like the concept but there’s was fatal flaw, there’s no equip that you could use to speed the process and even running Daihatsu it took me 20k of gas due to unexpected sub taiha b4 the boss and then those Imps like you said, they dodge every shot then nuke you with toprs. Other thing that’s bs is the sheer number of gimmicks “do this to get shortcut” “do that for debuff” “do that for new spawn point” that turns a a simple enough map into a grind hell that you’ll burn about 5 to 10k just to set up the stage to start nuking the boss, the fact that LBAS is just essential now just kills it for newbies even trying easy. We need more Richelieu and Pola if you ask me, I would pay to see a Russian ship wth Katyusha’s voice from Girls und Panzer. That’s what I like about KC the only gacha is basicaly one you could do multiple time a day unlike GBF where it’s 1 or 2 times at the end of the month. I have started the event, I’m still on the middle of E-2 tough, we still don’t have enough info on E-3 which is a 3 phase map making the event a total of 6 maps not 4 (Medium size event my ass).

It’s not just the 200+ songs, I ordered the Memorial Pack which means I get a 3 blu ray set of all the original PVs of the songs used in game along with a OST disc (and it’s pretty fucking cheap on AmiAmi considering the BDs of Magical Mirai alone almost go over the 100 euro mark). I still play the other PDs a lot, on F2nd I only need to beat 2 songs on extreme to finish it, Hatsune Miku no Gekishou and 2jigen Dream Fever I was sad that they made Gekishou easier on F2nd, hope FT has the original beat map. I love Uraomote Lovers, one of the catchiest songs wowaka made (would probably trigger a lot of SJW too) and he also made World End’s Dancehall which is damn catchy too. That’s why I said IA producers don’t mess around, I like both yet Cloud Rider takes it for me, don’t know if you listened to it with tled lyrics but the story and the lyrics are sad and dark yet the music has an opposite tone, I really like it.
