Hori Producing Another Dragon Quest DualShock 4 Slime Controller

While peripheral manufacturer Hori produced a pretty ridiculous Slime-shaped DualShock 4 controller for Dragon Quest XI, its design was mostly not meant to be actually used for prolonged periods of gameplay – just like its DualShock 2 predecessor. Now, the company is at it again, only now with a more traditionally-shaped Slime controller.

Set for a release on October 19th in Japan for 3,218 yen, the new Slime Edition DualShock 4 actually comes only in a corded form – with a 3 meter long cable. The smaller 135mm x 68mm x 30mm size is meant for children or those who prefer smaller controllers.

The latest game in the series, Dragon Quest XI, has a western release set for sometime next year, for PlayStation 4.

I got the PS2 blue original (there was also a silver one). As the story says, it was a decent display piece but not something to really play with for an extended period of time (or at all honestly).

I think I’ll skip this one, I’m happy with the default PS4 controller, and the novelty on these things has long since worn off.

It’s better than the other one, but it still doesn’t look particularly comfortable.

    Meh

And yet being it’s a slime- you’d think they’d make it something with a spongy/squishy outer shell.

Sorry bro, this is my only other controller.

I thought this was a new Wii Classic controller for a sec.

You’re not alone there. It also took me a moment to realize one of the eyes was an analog stick.

It might actually be a pretty comfortable controller, although I probably wouldn’t like it for the same reason I dislike the original classic controller, analog sticks without a side-grip feels too awkward.

The tiny touchpad is the icing on the cake.

Love me dragon quest slimes (I imported the silver PS4)…. but sorry, that controller thing there looks hideous.
