Opening Movie for Shinobi Refle: Senran Kagura

Marvelous has released the opening movie for Shinobi Refle: Senran Kagura.

Featured above, the opening movie for the game showcases its protagonist, Asuka, who looks to the player for help in opening up – via lots of rubbing and massaging.

In related news, Marvelous announced a few new titles within the franchise, including: Shinobi Master Senran Kagura: New Link, Senran Kagura 7EVEN, Peach Ball: Senran Kagura, and Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal.

Shinobi Refle: Senran Kagura is launching sometime later this year in Japan, for the Nintendo Switch.

I’m pretty sure this was shown during the stream, but it’s nice to see is as a separate trailer. Hopefully it will come to the West.

  • MusouTensei

Marvelous has no plans for it right now, and tbh I think rating boards would be a big problem with this one. I’ll just get it from the japanese e-shop, it will be only 1000 yen. And if they decide to localize it afterall, I’ll get it again.

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

I’m sure they’re more worried about how well a VN would sell outside of Japan on the Switch of all things if this doesn’t have any combat.

  • MusouTensei

Especially when it’s not releasing in at least 3 countries, Australia and New Zealand would ban it, germany would deny an age rating and therefore it wouldn’t be on the german store, and who knows what sweden would say.

  • Mr0303

If Germany allowed Peach Beach Splash there is hope for this one, which seems pretty tame in comparison.

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

Too many refugees in Sweden for them not to let it in.

  • totenglocke

They don’t even need to release any of this stuff in the West. Just add English subtitles and let people import it, the beauty of region-free consoles!

Visual novels sell like crazy on the 3DS and Vita, why wouldn’t they do well on the Switch (which is a handheld too)?

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

Because Playstation is the weeb homebase and everyone has a 3DS. Switch is currently primarily owned only by people who are into Nintendo games; a majority of which don’t seem the type to spend money on anything but barring meme games and indie.

Maybe PQube can pick this up? They tend to localise niche titles.

Was cool right until the dudes arm came into view. Self insertion is so fucking stupid as seen by every shitty VN that has a shitty self insert MC (every VN that has a shitty self insert MC is a shitty VN).

This stuff is so much worse when you imagine that one of the characters could be some lameass average player.

  • CRES

I’ve heard one fan theory that you are playing that Baseball player from Asuka’s VN section at the beginning of the first Senran Kagura. If that is true, then you are not a shitty self insert MC, but rather a pre-established character… who was turned into a shitty self insert MC.

  • Nagato

Would prolly sell decently enough even at 15 or 20 bucks, given the lack of games and the more dedicated audience that’s more likely to buy a gaming device this early on.

  • Skate or Die

So is this a dating sim?

  • Asuka

Somebody say my name? <. <
