lol its a little too late for the 3ds dont you think? bring it on the switch

  • DwightParkman

haha why is a PC gamer cosplaying mario

  • Uncle Ocelot

    It’s MovieBob.

  • Uncle Ocelot

Etrian Oddysey/PQ wouldn’t be the same on the Switch though.

  • DwightParkman

    says who

  • A lot more people already have the 3DS and an Etrian Odyssey would honestly look and play the same on either system. Plus the people who would buy a system just for an Etrian Odyssey game already got the 3DS for IV, and with P5 there isn’t a Persona drought to get people buy it like what happened with PQ.

  • Uncle Ocelot

    The single screen.

  • Shocker Rider GG

    yeeeeeesss, yeeeeesss

  • Travis Touchdown

Wow, Nintendo is fucked. Atlus announced a new 3DS game instead of a new Switch one. Truly, everything is going wrong for them right now.

But seriously, we’re going to get Persona 5 Switch eventually.

  • MusouTensei

Neat… I SWEAR IF MONA TELLS ME TO GO TO SLEEP IN THIS ONE!!!!!!!

  • DwightParkman

not sure why that matters in even the slightest. just have all the combat interface appear on screen like every other normal rpg, aswell as the map, and if u need to draw on the map, u can do that by opening a menu for that too, the second screen isnt really mandatory, it was just a gimmick.

  • -blank-

So obviously it’s PQ but with the Phantom Thieves? I’m down!

  • Audie Bakerson

    But will it have FeMC?

  • Malcolm_Ecks

You won’t get Persona 5 on the Switch. A lot of the more Niche JRPGs that are 3rd party tend to sell like shit on Nintendo consoles. Its why they only ever got 2 Tales games. Atlus, owned by Sega would rather not toss money into a port that wouldn’t sell well.

  • Uncle Ocelot

I guess so. You could use the map as an overlay and draw with the touch screen, which I keep forgetting the Switch even has; it would only really work in portable mode though, an analogue stick controlled cursor would be a lot less intuitive, but it could work. You don’t need to like your own posts though.

  • Travis Touchdown

They already released a survey in Japan asking if people wanted Persona 5 on Switch.

The response was overwhelmingly positive. It IS going to happen.

  • totenglocke

Everyone changes their mind about what systems to support after they see a system become insanely popular.

  • totenglocke

It’s not going to happen. Atlus has repeatedly stated that the Persona series is Sony exclusive.

  • Snorlaxation

Were they talking about the main series games though? Because Persona Q1 came out on the 3ds already

  • Snorlaxation

Doubtful, but they’d better have her for that P3 dancing game.

  • Snorlaxation

Keeping my ethereal fingers crossed for some P1/P2 crossover, but I’m already prepared for the disappointing truth.

  • totenglocke

Persona Q is an Etrian game that uses Persona characters. So, yes, they were referring to the “main series”.

  • kenneth

    XD

  • Ace

    Oh?

  • KiTA

Disgaea 5 Switch outsolde Disgaea 5 PS3/4… and PS3/4 had a huge head start.

  • Zombie_Barioth

BandaiNamco are bringing a Tales of game to the Switch though, not to mention Graces F was originally a Wii game. They got 3 not counting Phantasia and it’s GBA port.

The issue isn’t Nintendo consoles, its the install-base size. They also don’t want to constantly move their games from one platform to another. They tend to stick to Sony because most fans of a particular series already expect the games to be on their consoles.

That’s pretty much why Sony has Persona while Nintendo has had Shin Megami Tensei.

  • sanic

I still need to replay Q better get moving.

  • CRES

You’ve never played Etrian Odyssey, have you? Having to open a menu to draw on your map would be a terrible idea. It is a part of the experience to move a few steps and then draw out your surroundings. By having the hassle of opening a menu in order to draw your map would make the experience user hostile.

Sorry, but Etrian Odyssey could ONLY exist on the DS and 3DS. Which is part of the reason why I want Nintendo to release a “4DS” soon with the upgrades that the 3DS sorely needs.

  • Travis Touchdown

I bet Persona Q2 will make the jump to PS4, then.

    Oh… wait…

  • totenglocke

The Persona Q games are Etrian Odyssey games using Persona characters. They are not Persona games. But everyone who’s a regular here knows you’re not smart enough to understand things like that.

  • Travis Touchdown

    >They’re not Persona games
    >Even though they have Persona in the title

    Lol.

  • totenglocke

Once the Switch has sold 40 million units or more, a lot of developers who said they won’t port to Switch will suddenly change their minds.

  • totenglocke

Like I said, you’re not smart enough to understand the difference. 😘

  • “it was just a gimmick”
Kind of like the nintendo switch’s entirety?

  • Zombie_Barioth

    Exactly.

Games like this were likely already underway before the Switch though.

A Switch port wouldn’t gain anything, and fans would have a 3DS already.

Not much point in this case. They aren’t just waiting for the install base, they’re waiting for a proper next-gen iteration built from the ground up for the system.

  • totenglocke

Exactly. Any 3DS game coming out in 2017 or 2018 was already far enough along that it wasn’t worth redoing everything for the Switch. I fully expect 3DS hardware production to stop at the end of next year with a handful of third party titles trickling out afterwards.

  • Personaknight

Well It will be nice to have a new persona game that is way more developed in rpg gameplay than half and half like P5, but I wonder how they are gonna keep the Persona 5 mechanics of guns and how they have only 5 stat types.

  • Personaknight

There is a drought for everyone who beat P5. Also people who prefer the rpg part of persona are kinda reliant on Q to innovate or do more intricate gameplay mechanics such as having more than 5 stats or having party members use more than one persona.

  • Nintendo really need to kill off that shitty 3ds or the switch will die off early.

  • Persona 5 would most likely come to PC before switch.

  • Only a console gamer could get that fat. Just look at boogie2988.

  • Too thin.

  • It’s too late for all handhelds really.

  • DwightParkman

being fat, virgin, and generally, unattractive to the opposite sex is a unique trait of a pc gamer according to popular opinion

althletes from any ball sports that do play video games happen to play on ps4/xbone mostly, i never heard of a single athlete that plays pc.

  • DwightParkman

well if it is a gimmick, much like the 3ds, then im sure it shouldnt have a problem being on the switch!

  • DwightParkman

why cant i like my own posts? it helps me boost my self esteem :D

  • PaRaLLaXTHeTiCS

Yeah the 2nd screen is a big deal for a game like this, but I would mind going old school with a graph paper pad and pencil.

  • Sorry but it is a well known fact that console gamers usually be poor fat losers. It’s the mobile gamers that are casual athletes. look it up.

  • Lucky you are not on gematsu.

  • Personaknight

Who? Maya Amano? That’s persona 2.

  • Malcolm_Ecks

Is Tales niche though? Like, in terms of JRPGs, its pretty well known now. Persona JUST became a decent selling franchise outside of Japan and even in Japan. If install base was the reason, we would have seen Persona 3 on the Wii.

  • Zombie_Barioth

Yeah it is. Not super niche or anything, but neither it nor Persona are big sellers. I’m pretty sure Japan outsells the west 2:1.

And no, as I said its not just the size of the install base.

With so many games being made for and only for Playstation, that’s where the fans will go.

Ever since the PS1 its been known as the place for JRPGs and other niche Japanese games.

Even with Final Fantasy, which isn’t niche, most sales for XIII were for PS3.

  • How many of you guys are their?

  • MISTER6AME

    2-7 months.
