It’s safe to say that PS4 is now the main platform for SK games, where they intend to continue the story. Looking forward to the game. I kind of hope it is done in a new engine and it would have some more enemy variety (hopefully some yoma).

  • Mr0303

I’m also really happy that the anime is getting a second season. The first was brilliant and represented the stories quite well. Plus the animation quality was great.

  • I’ve been wanting a darker SK game for a while, and it appears we’ll be getting it again this time around. He listened!

  • perfect34

Good maybe they’ll kill off Minori for shock factor.

  • DizzyGear

The teaser image looks like 7th Expansion (Higurashi/Umineko) is involved somehow.

  • artemisthemp

That’s only understandable considering how popular the PS4 is.

  • Loli de 35 dias de vida

I was kinda hoping this would be on the Switch as well (I’m a bit disappointed at the SK games the Switch is getting. I mean, really? A datesim with only Asuka and Pinball?)

Either way, looking forward to it. I guess we’ll finally see what Estival and PBS were building up to!

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

Hmm? I always heard the anime was shit and messed up personality or reasons or whatever and that the only good part was the OVAs.

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

Wouldn’t you rather they break Minori?

  • Eldhin Hellknight

I see some kind of youma in that teaser. Hopefully, this game will feature fights against monsters and other enemies instead of the students of their schools. I would love to see some bigger maps with more exploration too

  • Eldhin Hellknight

The animated series was… Good. Not great, not bad, just good. I would love to see something like the Estival Versus OVA (with a lot of bewbs and nips)

  • Mr0303

Maybe you should watch it yourself before forming an opinion?

  • Mr0303

I think it represented the series quite well – the humour, the sex appeal as well as the good characters.

I don’t think we’ll see something like the EV OVA, but it’s not out of the question considering Valkyrie Drive.

  • MusouTensei

    I can’t wait!

  • Matz

Is kinda understandable that they’re sticking with PS4 for Main games, the games have become somewhat raunchy, things like full strips, the creative finishers of EV and the Diorama mode with enough material to make NSFW Photos would make a big controversy in Nintendo systems that are still seen as “Consoles for Children”

  • Mr0303

That is definitely part of it in my opinion. By the limited footage we’ve seen from Shinobi Refle it looks much more tame in comparison.

  • sanic

    You had me at S

  • Malcolm_Ecks

Switch is getting the Splatoon like SK game as well. But SK’s main games seem to sell better outside of Nintendo consoles and Nintendo doesn’t seem to want many ecchi games with how they want to keep their image.

  • Loli de 35 dias de vida

wait what? since when is PBS coming to the Switch?

  • Loli de 35 dias de vida

personally, I didn’t like it, I watched the anime before playing the first game and it failed to grab me. I think it simplified the story and characters a bit much. like, I HATED Hibari in the anime, I thought she was just the “cute clumsy” character and found her extremely annoying, but my opinion on her completely changed when I played the game.

  • Mr0303

What changed your opinion on her? I’d say that she’s the dumb incompetent character in the games as well.

  • They didn’t say it was exclusive to PS4. It just coming to PS4.

After all I am sure they need a bit more time before making one for Switch.
The Switch already have 2 games where PS4 only just got 3 plus one remake.

  • Malcolm_Ecks

My bad, bad info on my part. They do have a Switch exclusive game in the works though.

  • alterku

Kinda sad they’re abandoning the Vita, but understandable and probably best for the series. Keep them coming to PC and share the love of happy boobs with more people.

  • Loli de 35 dias de vida

yes, the Asuka Waifu Simulator, and Pinball.

  • Loli de 35 dias de vida

I guess if enough people bug Takaki about it on his Twitter he might make a Switch Version

  • Loli de 35 dias de vida

well yes, but there was much more to her character than that, like, I liked how the fact that she IS weaker does bother her, and that deep inside she doesn’t like being talked down to as if she was a child. She felt responsible for Losing the Secret Ninja Scroll and Yagyuu getting injured and left to join Hebijo because she was ashamed of facing her friends. a “regular” Dumb character wouldn’t have that such a reaction, let alone be the first one to see that there’s more to the Hebijo girls that it first seemed. Also helps that she later gets more developed in Shinovi Versus and SK2, showing that she never really wanted to be a Ninja but had to go down that path because the Kagan awaked in her eyes.

I think Hibari kinda embodies what I feel about Senran Kagura as a whole: Something that looks like a simple shallow thing at first but later surprises you by having much more dept than first perceived.

Now, the ONE character in SK I can’t stand is Minori, she’s everything I feared Hibari was going to be: Childish, annoying, but with nothing to make her more than that stereotype.

  • Mr0303

The thing is the anime showed that exact thing, so I’m not sure why you find her representation any different. They can only do so much with 13 episodes.

She was still incompetent – she failed miserably and didn’t get the scroll back. Rather than admitting she fucked up and tell her friends she did the childish thing and tried to get it on her own, so that she won’t be yelled at.

I don’t find her not wanting to be a ninja struggle interesting. Her emotional turmoil was that she was afraid that everybody was nice to her because of her powers (which she can’t use), which is pretty contrived and unreasonable.

I don’t like Hibari at all. At least Minori lacks the self awareness to be a decent person – she’s a literal child.

  • Loli de 35 dias de vida

I’ll admit I dropped the Anime a few episodes in.

Well, to each his own I guess, I think Hibari managed become pretty interesting and I can give her the credit that she’s trying better herself, but at the same time I can see why others wouldn’t like her. (I usually don’t like her character type but for some reason, I’m okay with her, she’s not one of my favorites but I still like her)

  • Mr0303

Maybe you could give it another shot. It starts a bit slow, but the last couple of episodes are quite good.

I agree – different tastes and all that.
