Legendary Pokemon Finally Coming to Pokemon Go on July 22

Niantic and The Pokemon Company have confirmed that legendary Pokemon are finally coming to Pokemon Go.

A new update is coing to game on July 22nd, which coincides with Pokemon Go Fest in Chicago’s Grant Park. Featured above, you can view a new live-action trailer showing Pokemon trainers running into legendary beasties, only to see their very own Pokemon get obliterated.

Over on the Niantic blog, the developer mentions legendaries will appear as eggs randomly within gyms. Once the eggs hatches, you’ll have to get others to team up and defeat the legendary raid boss. After this, you might be able to catch it to use for yourself. You can’t, however, leave them behind to defend a gym.

Didn’t this die by developer sabotage? (The great tracker holocaust)

I did enjoy the part where the legendaries wiped out all the Pokemon of the happy smiling people. This pretty much confirms that they’ll be damage sponges that require lots of investment to beat.

    Really? Just now?

I think I’ll stick with the actual Pokemon games. Not interested in staring down at a smartphone all day with groups.

Wow, it just took them an entire year to finally include the legendaries, at this speed we might see the 6th gen in 2022

    Cancer Go

  • The hilarious part is that, the announcement clearly states that it has to be unlocked in a convoluted manner, meaning that after all of the wait it’s actually still possible to not have this event take off at all!
