NieR Remaster Highly Possible “if NieR: Automata Sells Like Hotcakes”

Square Enix held a live Q&A with NieR creator Yoko Taro, Platinum Games designer Takahisa Taura, and NieR: Automata producer Yosuke Saito over on Facebook. While the majority of the Q&A was focused on the upcoming NieR: Automata, the game’s predecessor naturally came into question.

“Is there a possibility of a NieR Remaster or Re-Release?” pondered a fan to Saito, to which he responded with: “There is a very high possibility if NieR Automata sells like hotcakes, yes.”

Saito mentioned the game will take about 25 hours to get the “true ending,” however there will naturally be multiple endings and they won’t get unlocked in the same way they were in the first game. He let out a sly tease: “You’ll have to figure out how to get them on your own.” He also added that for you to fully complete the game, it’ll take around 55 to 60 hours.

Taura made a note in the game having lots of genres just like its predecessor, if the now-available PlayStation 4 demo wasn’t indicative enough. “Yoko-san had to put in another text adventure just because people hated the first one,” noted the translator.

One of the more iconic quotes from Taro was in regards to a message he could share with fans. “I wouldn’t expect too much from this game if I were you,” he said. Oh Taro, please never change.

Finally, regarding the release date of the PC version, Taura was quite scared of Square Enix proper, adding: “We’re working hard on it, but if I said anything, ninjas from [Square Enix] would try to kill me, so I’ve got nothing to announce.”
