Blue Dragon Joins Xbox One Backwards Compatibility

Blue Dragon is now backwards compatible on Xbox One.

Released back in 2008 for Xbox 360, the classic Mistwalker and Artoon-made RPG is now supported on Microsoft’s growing list of backwards compatible Xbox 360 titles.

Here’s a refresher on the game, via

Hironobu Sakaguchi, the Father of the Final Fantasy series, and Artoon present the world of Blue Dragon on Xbox 360. Featuring the character design of Akira Toriyama, the Father of “Dragon Ball Z“, and music by Nobuo Uematsu, the composer for Final Fantasy, Blue Dragon is an epic role-playing game (RPG) centered on five youngsters who possess miraculous strength and magical power to control shadow creatures that mirror the actions of their masters.

    forgot this was a thing

  • Master Bating

    Ps3 has no games

  • vonSanneck

Disc only, this also applies to Lost Odyssey as well.

  • True Goddess Reincarnation

    Mediocre RPG tbh fam.

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

Was totally expecting Microsoft to forget all about this.

  • Casey

Boring, grindy, overhyped JRPG. Move along people.

  • Guin

Toriyama was the only big selling point for this series.

where is NGB and NG2 tho?

  • I remember being really excited for this, but then I never got a 360 and never even pirated the DS games which were related (presumably as I like playing things in order).

  • Dewey Defeats Truman

I feel kinda bad that I only know about this game because of Shut Up and Jam Gaiden.

  • tetrisdork

NGB was an original Xbox game, not a 360 game like NG2. To get that running would entail the Xbox BC devs making the OG Xbox playable on the One (possible but maybe not as easy) or have the 360 emulator running the emulator the system had for the OG (emulate while you emulate)

  • I played the demo to this game and all but forgot about it.

  • Uncle Ocelot

I got this way back for super cheap, I remember it being pretty alright. Lost Odyssey was a lot better though.

what it needed is more playstation or pc ports, a shame some JRPGs remained forever stuck in a console where their fanbase crearly isn´t there, such a waste

  • sanic

I tried it, thought it sucked balls.

stfu no its not you troll

  • Rich Garriques

    says who cod fan?

  • Travis Touchdown

I remember seeing ads for this years ago!

I think I will pick it up. Probably after I finish DQVII, though.

  • Travis Touchdown

Fun fact: I bought a one just to play Itagaki’s work.

    They better come soon!

Too bad Mistwalker is lost to the mists of time. The first few years of the 360 were awesome with MS funding Japanese games and supporting Japanese devs.

Then they came to their senses. Xbox is for (Americans) playing shooters and watching Netflix.

  • True Goddess Reincarnation

Right with a username like mine surely I am a cod fan

  • Nagato

They’re not coming, should’ve gotten a 360 for those instead.

  • Stilzkin

Yee it was a pretty weird time. But the fanbase just wasn’t there

  • Feniks

Well I did my part, bought almost every JRPG on the 360. I regret nothing ;) but I did eventually switch to the PS3.

  • So basically what all consoles has became.

  • Chocolate ISISCream

Cry more faggot HAHA. You’re going to have to buy an Xbox One or 360 if you ever want to play LO or BD. Get fucked!
