Marvelous Planning Western and Asian Release for Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash

We’ve learned that Marvelous is planning both a western and an Asian release for Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash.

The news comes via the company’s most recent financial report, where they announced plans to launch the game overseas in both western and Asian countries.

This is basically all we have to go with for now, as an announcement via US-based localizing studio XSEED Games hasn’t come just yet.

Are you guys excited for a western release of Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash? Sound off in the comments below!

On one hand, I have a deeper appreciation for Kenichiro Takaki after reading a recent interview with him about this. His games are clearly labors of love and he’s very open about what he loves (i.e. boobs and ass, to which I say “Who doesn’t?”) and doesn’t really care about how people react to it. I also like how he actually tries to infuse fun gameplay on top of the fanservice so that his games aren’t just one-dimensional eye candy. I don’t play games for fanservice, but I enjoy hack n’ slashers, so I genuinely enjoy Senran Kagura and Valkyrie Drive (which I recently played and enjoyed quite a bit) for their gameplay.

On the other hand, this isn’t a hack n’ slash, but a third-person shooter, which I’m fine with, but isn’t a favorite genre of mine. I feel less-inclined to pick this up for that reason, but I really need to see gameplay footage to determine if this will be my cup of tea as I want to support his games.

Come on Xseed. Can’t wait to see the outrage machine freak out about this.

  • I love how Playstation can have games like Senran Kagura flourish right next to very western games like Uncharted or god of war. Such variety.

  • It is only through Marvelous pushing their games onto the platform. It would be more interesting if Sony were trying to make games like this themselves or at least supporting them more.

Why would you want 2kg of the worst girl?

Considering they basically localized Yakuza 5 themselves instead of Sega I think they’re making at least some effort.

  • Mr0303

That’s not how you spell Hibari.

  • No doubt. Shenmue 3, the Yakuza games and others all have differing amounts of Sony support and involvement.

I was primarily focused on how having a lewd third party game or two next to first party game isn’t remarkable.

Nintendo funded Bayonetta 2 and encouraged PlatinumGames to go further. I think that’s sort of it since Nintendo are afraid of letting their western audience experience much else even counting first party games (censored).

I don’t need to see Sony have something of the same scale but Bayonetta 2 and some select gimped 3DS and Wii U releases were similarly mixing things up with a console manufacturer’s support. Too much “support” in many cases.

  • Right. We could at least vaguely gauge at a glance if we wanted a Takaki beat em up whether it is Senran Kagura or not and even if it wasn’t developed by Tamsoft.

I’m hoping for this to be a more refined Bullet Girls but we still don’t know anything but how ambitious the limited editions will be and the opening (normally shown after the gameplay for SK games I think).

  • And you think Sony doesn’t notice games like these being pushed onto their platforms? It’s because Sony does not mind. Stop trying to downplay this. They know that many people enjoy Anime games.

I think he’s trying to go with variety to keep the series from growing stale. Don’t want to get into a Dynasty Warriors 9001 situation.

Anime games are the only thing keeping the PS Vita afloat, so Sony has a bit to be grateful for when it comes to anime titles. That said, a lot of them are coming out for PS4 now and are just being ported to the Vita or vise-versa, and the Vita seems to be losing out on exclusive titles in that regard.

  • Of course they don’t mind beyond games which reach AO (and somewhat CERO Z status).

That’s the bare minimum and every console manufacturer gets their fill of anime games.

I just mean that they actually published like a dozen Bleach games for the PS2 and PSP. Nintendo distributed select One Piece games and published Jump Superstars.

Neither are doing too much now even if they don’t need to.

If tolerance is enough, the Xbox deserves similar applause to Sony and it does have some exclusives.

I mean when have we not gotten Senran Kagura games?
