Indie Platformer Clive & Wrench Gets A Makeover

If you remember, we introduced you to a new 3D platformer this past February called Clive & Wrench. Though unfinished, it played remarkably well and seemed to be tapping into a crowd that only now (thanks to Yooka-Laylee’s huge Kickstarter success two months ago) is starting to receive attention.

In the time since then, it seems a reworking of the character’s image has happened, with the developer hiring a new animator to take care of the game’s art.

The game’s Mod DB page has the entire story, but of special note is word that the new artistic direction has had an unintended but otherwise welcomed effect on the game as a whole:

Of course it doesn’t stop there! They are now modelled, animated and running around in the game! Due to improvements in technology and my own skill as an artist and animator they are actually less demanding to render than the old ones, and sport some pretty impressive looking fur shaders! Fur is something rarely seen in games (even now), so I’m really pleased with how they’ve turned out!
