Japanese developer Yuke’s has announced they’ll acquire Aquaplus, the developer known for series like To Heart, Utawarerumono, and more.

Yuke’s will acquire the visual novel developer Aquaplus for a reported 783,520,000 yen, or roughly $5,300,591 USD.

The new acquisition is expected to be completed with the transfer of ownership from current owner Pole To Win Holdings to Yuke’s sometime next month, in September 2025.

Yuke’s said they wanted to acquire Aquaplus because of their strength in scenario production, which combined with Yuke’s technological capabilities and game software development planning will enhance the content capabilities of both companies.

Yuke’s wants to utilize the publishing functions of Aquaplus to advance a business model centered on IP development, which Aquaplus has plenty of experience with producing games, anime, music, and live events.

The combination of Yuke’s console game development prowess and Aquaplus’ IP planning and brand building capabilities will enable both companies to develop new titles under new genres, and with new approaches entirely.

Yuke’s also said they will internalize some of the projects handled by Aquaplus to optimize resources and stabilize operations of their contract manufacturing line.
