Ys VI: Ark of Napishtim Arrives Uncut and On Sale

If you’re like me, you’ve always had a chip on your shoulder over the shoddy PS2 release of Ys VI: Ark of Napishtim. With Konami unable to secure the rights to the soundtrack, the music was different…and obviously, not as good. Not to mention the redone cinema scenes. Sure, you could import the original and apply a patch, but paying north of $100 (Back 10 years ago) for a Japanese PC game wasn’t in most gamer’s budgets. A PSP version came out that tried to rectify that, but had the blood removed due to the console rating system.

Today it becomes a bit cheaper to play the definitive version of Napishtim, thanks to its release on Steam, The Humble Store, and GOG. The price is the same ($16.99) on all three sites, so it’s only a matter of picking your favorite digital distribution channel and downloading it.

Ys VI takes place in an island nation that is cut off from the rest of the world via an ocean vortex. With the people being tribal by nature, it gives off a very different vibe than other Ys games. That being said, it’s still one of the better titles and has a nearly identical gameplay to Felghana and Origin, for those who prefer the pre YVII style.
