• Your Name producer arrested on child pornography charges

    Koichiro Ito

    Koichiro Ito, a producer whose name is attached to works such as Your Name (Kimi no na wa), Suzume (Suzume no Tojimari), The Garden of Words (Kotonoha no Niwa), and more has been arrested in Japan for soliciting nude images from a 15 year old girl.

    According to Mainichi, Ito had interactions with this girl back in 2021 but there may be more victims. He allegedly told police “I had a similar exchange with another person, so I can’t remember if it was this girl or not.”

    Ito’s involvement in child exploitation may run deeper, as Japanese law enforcement reportedly caught on to him during a separate investigation into child prostitution.

    Ito was an associate producer on multiple anime films, notably works by Makoto Shinkai.
