We’d previously reported that Granzella had purchased the Disaster Report IP. They’ve now released a statement that confirms this, and what their plans are for the series.
They plan to complete and publish the last title in the series that had been in development, Disaster Report 4. Known also as Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 4: Summer Memories, Disaster Report 4 was plagued by a series of problems that ensured it never saw publication. Its previous developer and publisher, Irem, managed to pull the game out of a mini-development hell, only to have to eventually mercy kill it because of the 2011 tsunami caused by an earthquake off the coast of Touhoku. Nobody in Japan wanted to play a game about the real life troubles they were having.
There’s no other news about it for now but Granzella did report that more will be revealed about Disaster Report 4 in Autumn of 2015.
With that good news, comes more!
There are also plans to release previous Disaster Report games as downloadable versions for Playstation consoles. Both the original Disaster Report (known as SOS: The Final Escape in Europe) and its sequel, Raw Danger, will be released as PS2 Classics on the Playstation 3; while Disaster Report 3, which was only ever released in Japan and South Korea as Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 3: Kowareyuku Machi to Kanojo no Uta, will get a PSP and PS Vita release via PSP download.
