Bandai Namco has announced some pretty awesome news – players are going to be able to create their very own characters inSword Art Online: Lost Song.
The character creation comes when players visit the Einherjar tavern in the Sky City of Line, which is where players meet online. You can pick out the race, hair style, hair color, skin color, and voice of your avatar. While the customization is a bit limited, but it does let you create avatars alongside Kirito and crew.
Here are examples of the nine races you can customize and pick from in game:
Salamander
Salamanders are able to use knuckles, one-handed swords, as well as two-handed swords. They’re definitely an offensive type race, and they can also use fire magic.
Sylph
Sylphs are capable of using bows, daggers, and rapiers. They can unleash both magic and physical attacks, so they’re adept in most situations. They’re also capable of using wind magic.
Undine
Undines are able to use staffs, bows, and one-handed swords. They’re more of a magic race, utilizing both water and recovery magic, and they’re mostly useful as support in a party.
Cait Sith
Cait Siths make use of bows, daggers, and knuckles. A unique trait of their race is being able to recruit monsters, as they’re “Beast Tamers,” allowing them to summon familiars when in battle.
Leprechaun
Leprechauns make use of spears, staffs, and two-handed axes. Another support race, they are able to cast support effects on their party members.
Gnome
Gnomes can make use of knuckles, two-handed axes, and two-handed swords. They inherently have higher attack power and stamina, and they’re quite powerful in close-quarters compbat. They also use earth magic.
Spriggan
Spriggans can utilize daggers, staffs, and swords. They have debuff-focused magics, and they also have special abilities that can help out their party members.
Imp
Imps can use katanas, one-handed swords, and staffs. They use a mix of both physical and magic damage, and they also use dark magic.
Pooka
Pookas can use bows, daggers, and staffs. Despite their cute outward appearance, they can be formidable. They are the sole race that can use the “Song” magic.
Using Custom Characters in Single-Player
While you can use your custom character in the single player campaign, you’ll still play through the story as if you’re Kirito.
The Beast Tamers
Cait Sith-based characters like Silica and Argo can summon their familiars, which aid them in battle.
Bonus Sub-Episodes
Alongside the main single player campaign, there are a variety of sub-episodes for players to experience.
In the above screenshot, you can see both Yui and Silica asking Kirito something. Once both girls are onto him, they won’t let up until they get what they want.
Featured above, you can view a screenshot of both Kirito and Asuna on a date. Asuna is wearing her Yukata, which you can only get via playing through a specific sub-episode. Other ladies in the game also have their own yukata that can be unlocked as well.
