Square Enix boss Yosuke Saito has announced he’s working on a new project with NieR creator Taro Yoko and series composer Keiichi Okabe.
The new tease confirms all three are working together again on what could be a new NieR game, though it could be something else entirely. Saito appeared in an interview with former Capcom producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who is now at NetEase Games.
“We have been talking about doing something with Yoko-san and Okabe-san for a long time,” Saito said to Famitsu (via ryokutya2089). “We can talk about something more coherent in the not-too-distant future, so please stay tuned. It may be NieR, it may not be NieR (laughs), but that’s about all I can say right now.”
Saito also revealed that he has another project in the works.
“I’m working on a lot of things with the desire to create something that doesn’t exist yet,” Saito teased. “I can’t devote all my time to this project, so I’m leaving it almost entirely to the staff, but it’s turning out to be quite interesting. I’m looking forward to the day when I can present it to the public.”
