The things that can be said about cats …

They are the ultimate snuggle buddies, funny, silly, cute, and can be complete jerks. Their sole mission in life is to judge humans, knock drinks off tables, leave slain animals at your doorstep, and throw themselves on your keyboard, and look irresistibly cute.

For developers Tikipod Ltd., cats’ goal is to do all this and kick some ass in the name of survival. Enter Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender DX.

On the PlayStation Blog earlier today, Dugan, the founder of Tikipod Ltd, took to the PlayStation Nation to talk more about his fascinating game.

Originally a PlayStation Mobile title, Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender DX has been greatly expanded to include boss fights, extra directional fire, an optional “easy” mode, and much more. Seeing the snap shots above and below, this looks to be an incredibly fun adventure.

Here are some of the improvements made to the game since its original incarnation:

• Extra directional fire options are really helpful, as they allow you to shoot down any aerial robo jellyfish attempting to abduct mining kittens.
• Large mechanical Bosses guard the end of each area, and must be dispatched of course to progress onward.
• Perhaps you feel the normal game mode is too hard for you? No problem, there is now an optional easy mode campaign.
• Arcade mode adds a fantastic, all-new twist to the core gameplay. Imagine it like a blend of arcade classics Gradius and Defender. You collect special gems which can be used to purchase your power-up upgrades.

In the future, when the resource of milk has run dry, a group of elite kitties takes to the ocean depths to mine and process the delicious and nutritious white stuff. Players will take on large hordes of mechanical enemies and must survive the great depths in order to obtain the precious life stuff.
