Yakuza Series Producer Really Wants a Binary Domain Remaster

The Yakuza series producer has recently talked up what Ryo ga Gotoku Studio is doing, and how he’d like a Binary Domain remaster of some kind.

Yakuza series producer Daisuke Sato talked up (via GameBlog) the cult-classic third-person shooter, saying he’d like to remaster the game for modern platforms.

“Personally, I’d really like to (laughs). If possible, I’d like to make a few changes that I didn’t quite get to back then and maybe redo some parts, too,” Sato said.

Binary Domain was originally released back in 2012 for Windows PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 and had great reviews but not so great sales. Despite this, it gained a cult following with fans. Sato also talked up how Ryo ga Gotoku studio sometimes explores games with varying gameplay from their core titles, like Yakuza: Like a Dragon.

“As seen in Like a Dragon, we switched the battle system from action to turn-based, and the genre to RPG,” Sato said. “This was because Ichiban Kasuga isn’t the type of protagonist to fight alone and the story followed him and his friends to go from rags to riches together, which translated better as an RPG in which you team up as a party to fight.”

He added, “TPS was also the genre that best matched Binary Domain. For RGG Studio, the dramatic story is at the center of everything, so the genre is then created to best match how that story flows.”
