While Sega recently announced high-definition remasters for Yakuza 3, Yakuza 4, and Yakuza 5 for PlayStation 4, a western release for the remasters hasn’t been confirmed – until now.

Yakuza series producer Toshihiro Nagoshi recently held a Yakuza-themed livestream (via Resetera) where he talked up sales for the latest title in the series, Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, as well as whether or not the HD remasters would get a western release.

Nagoshi said that the main reason Yakuza 3, Yakuza 4, and Yakuza 5 are being remastered is for new overseas fans of the series who have yet to play the games, which are currently only available on PlayStation 3. He also reiterated that the games will have no content cut, a nod to the original western release of Yakuza 3 (which had content removed).

While that’s not an official confirmation the games are getting western releases – it’s only a matter of time until we get the official nod from the powers at be within Sega. We’ve also reached out to Sega PR for an update.

Lastly, it’s worth pointing out that Nagoshi guessed that sales for Yakuza 6 is probably around 800,000 units sold, making it the largest U.S. launch in the series history.
