Yakuza 0 is Finally Launching on PS3, PS4, on March 12th in Japan

yakuza 0 10-27-14-1

Sega has confirmed via a Nico Nico broadcast that Yakuza 0 is launching next March in Japan.

The prequel featuring a young and brazen Kiryu and a suave Majima is arriving on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on March 12th. If you pre-order the game, you’ll also get a special booklet.

Yakuza 0 is a prequel, where you’ll get to see a 1980’s version of Kamurocho, as well as a 20-year-old Kazuma Kiryu, and a 24-year-old Majima Goro. The origin story is touted as one featuring violence, money, and—of course—women.

A western localization has not been announced.

Can we add localizing more Yakuza games as another victory condition for GamerGate?

It’s to painful to know these games exist and that I will never get to play them, I tried learning moon but I keep getting boned with work and classes, maybe next summer…

Do the games not sell in the west?

I honestly had not heard of the games till recently…and if I had, would have grabbed them in the past.

Sleeping Dogs only did sort of okay in the West. It could be a matter of opportunity cost that’s holding them back … That said, I don’t see what’s stopping them from at least throwing this up on Steam, since they already have a PS4 version and porting isn’t as torturous as it used to be. Asian developers/publishers should be doing better in that regard in general.

They complain there’s no demand for these games here, I don’t understand why they don’t just make a kickstarter for the localization of one of them to see. There’s no risk if it fails, and if people really want it, it’ll get paid for. Their reasons for holding all these games back just seems arbitrary as fuck.
