Sega has revealed a new trailer for Yakuza 0 at their special Yakuza-dedicated panel at this year’s Tokyo Game Show.
Also discussed alongside the new trailer (featured above) were various details for the game, its setting, and its cast of characters. The story within Yakuza 0 is a prequel, as we’ve known, only now we’ve learned the focus is on the Japanese Yen in the game.
Managing a successful business and its cash flow will be crucial to also dominating the local families. The 20-year-old Kiryu will be engaged in a real estate battle with five billionaires, in an effort to rein in influence over Kamurocho.
There will be over 100 side quests for you to partake in, and most of them are very important to your progress in the main story. Rewards for the side quests range from simply earning more cash to gaining more muscle to dominating the streets.
Despite Kiryu being a younger grunt looking to further his career as a mobster, the 24-year-old Majima is pre-occupied with managing a hostess club. The hostess club is reminiscent of the ones seen in Yakuza 4, meaning you’ll be recruiting girls off the street and even customizing their looks.
Finally, we’ve learned that Japanese reggae group Shonan no Kaze is going to be helping with the game’s music. Licensed stores and restaurants in various locales (like Don Quijote) will be highly similar to their real-life versions as seen in the 1980’s.
Yakuza 0 is set for a release in the spring of 2015 in Japan, for both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
