Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is a zombie filled spin-off to the Ninja Gaiden series where you play as a cyborg ninja named simply “Yaiba.” Tecmo Koei has confirmed the game is getting a lot of extra goodies upon its release.
The first of the bonus materials revealed is the retro inspired side-scrolling “Ninja Gaiden Z” mode, where you control Yaiba, cutting through hordes of elemental zombies, robot zombies, and more.
This mode also has allows you to rack up points, just like old school arcade games. The best part? It’s filled with oodles of 8-bit art and hilariously bad translations – just like the good ol’ days!

Yaiba is getting several downloadable costumes, most notably Beck from Mighty No. 9, the kickstarter funded spiritual successor to Mega Man.
The Beck costume will be accompanied with a camouflage costume, which is definitely nowhere near as exciting.
Also confirmed the mastermind behind Yaiba’s resurrection and cybernetic enhancements, Miss Monday.
She’s an engineer working at Forge Industries, and she revived Yaiba with all of his cyborg enhancements.
During missions, she’ll be in contact with Yaiba via an intercom, ensuring that all of his cybernetic parts are working ok.
