Nintendo has shown off a couple of characters to continue their promotion of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 who will take part in the game’s storyline.
Nintendo and Monolith Soft have been posting about the game fairly often in the past couple of weeks. The new characters introduced aren’t believed to be part of the playable party for Xenoblade Chronicles 3, but will play a major role in the game’s story.
Here’s both new characters:
Ethel is the commander of the Keves Colony 4 in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and wields a pair of slender swords. Famous for defeating three enemy colonies at once with only 100 soldiers at her command, Silvercoat Ethel, as she is called, is well known to all the forces of Keves!
Ethel’s unwavering conviction in her beliefs and ingenuity have won her the trust of those serving under her. But though Noah also hails from Keves, she attacks him and his group on sight, calling them monsters!
The first of the two shown here is a woman by the name of Ethel. Given their brief description of her, she is a powerful individual and leader.
Other in-game screenshots of her shown by their twitter also show her right eye glowing red. So there is an indication that she holds a power within that will be revealed in the plot somewhere.
Meet Guernica Vandham, a mysterious man who appears before Noah and the others just as they face off on the battlefield in Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
After informing the group about their “true enemy”, he urges them to seek a land pierced by a great sword.
The second character shown is a man named Guernica Vandham, whom they describe as mysterious as well as the one who directs the main cast of characters towards their “true enemy”.
His scars and eyepatch indicate he’d been through tough combat situations. Though whether they’ll be explained as part of his character, or just there for the rule of cool remains to be seen.
What do you think of these characters? It’s certainly interesting to see returning designer Masatsugu Saito’s designs for this new title.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is slated to release on July 29th for Nintendo Switch.
