Xbox Series X|S Original Xbox Dynamic Background Now Available

Xbox Series X|S original Xbox dynamic background

Microsoft has added a new Xbox Series X|S original Xbox dynamic background in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Xbox brand.

The new Xbox Series X|S original Xbox dynamic theme is available now, and it’s called “The Original.” The new dynamic theme evokes the overall look and feel of the original Xbox dashboard, complete with its weird floating blob and the scrolling grid in the background.

There’s only a handful of dynamic themes currently available for the Xbox Series X|S, with the most recent addition prior to “The Original” being the “Motes” theme. Each dynamic theme so far has been more subtle with animation, and doesn’t distract too much from the system’s interface while you’re scrolling through your library.

It remains to be seen how often Microsoft will be adding more dynamic themes to Xbox Series X|S, however they did release the “Motes” theme only last month. It makes sense they’re adding themes more regularly as fans are naturally demanding for more options to customize their Series X|S interface.

To enable the “Original” dynamic theme you need to go to your Xbox Series X|S settings, then general, then personalization, and then my background. You’ll be able to scroll to it under dynamic backgrounds.

The original Xbox launched twenty years ago back on November 15th, 2001 in North America, followed by Japan in February 2002 and finally Europe and Australia in March of 2002. The most recent console, the Xbox Series X|S, launched on November 10 worldwide.

Do you think “The Original” dynamic theme is worth using? Should Microsoft open up dynamic themes to third parties like independent developers and creators? Sound off in the comments below!
