XBOX gives rare update on The Elder Scrolls VI after years of silence

The Elder Scrolls VI

Speaking in a recent interview, XBOX Chief Content Officer Matt Booty revealed that he recently visited Bethesda Game Studios, where he met with Todd Howard and saw The Elder Scrolls VI running internally.

Booty said (via Variety) the game is “coming along well” and looks “amazing,” offering a rare glimpse behind the curtain for one of the industry’s most anticipated projects.

Sadly, during the XBOX’s latest Games Showcase, the next Elder Scrolls didn’t make an appearance. Bethesda remained quiet, continuing a trend that has lasted ever since the game’s brief teaser reveal way back in 2018.

However, Booty explained that Xbox wants to avoid showing the game too early. Rather than releasing a trailer years before launch, the company intends to wait until it has a polished demo capable of making a strong impression and signaling that the release isn’t far away.

That strategy may frustrate some fans, especially considering it’s now been more than eight years since the original announcement. Still, for a community that has spent years surviving on rumors and speculation, hearing that the game is playable and progressing smoothly is likely welcome news.

While no release window, gameplay footage, or platform details were revealed, this is one of the clearest confirmations yet that Bethesda’s next fantasy epic is steadily moving toward the spotlight.
